Campground without concrete patios very muddy. States with patios looked very nice

We camped in site on hill. Very nice location with trees and all hook-ups at site worked well. Resort had lots of amenities. The WiFi/cell reception was not good - even when we walked down to check-in area. Great location to see Mount Rushmore and Black Hills.

Overall nice stay. Bathroom and shower house not easily accessible to sites that are not full hookup. Have to walk across bridge and around all the full hookup sites. Site was reserved for a 32 ft trailer but back in was not possible if you followed the one way. And not room to park tow vehicle at site.

This place is really nice.

Nice campground. Friendly staff.

The deluxe cabin did not have enough utensils for 8 people, no bowls, and the two white dogs that belong to one of the KOA employees was left outside while they worked and they continuously barked. We told the people where you check in & nothing was done about anything. Very disappointed with KOA.

We don't care for the new rain shower heads in the front bath house, grounds and bath house - restrooms not as clean as in the past.

Enjoyed the stay and amenities with our family.

It was OK for the location. Didn't need all the extras. Also, who would put a huge speed-up halfway back to camping sites. Really. You are already going slow due to curves. It topples everything in rv. That will keep me from coming back and recommending it.

We wont be back! The sites are tight, ours was not mowed and dirty upon arrival (several loose trash items) we had to ask twice for our site to be cleaned. The mens room was disgusting and the ladies always seemed to be out of paper. The shower rooms had mold on the walls, ceiling and the grout. They seem far more concerned w extra amenities than cleanliness and customer service.

It was so awesome! We will be back. The only bad part was the WiFi. There is no cell reception, so it would be nice to have reliable wifi. It looked like we had a wifi signal but never actually had reliable wifi unless we were at the laundry facility or showers.

Everything was good camp site was a little tight getting into. And there was few tree stumps sticking up 4-6 inches high to trip over Wright in our walking path. Not sure why they weren’t cut at ground level.

We booked 2 nights, wish we booked longer. Beautiful campground, so much fun for the kids. Will definitely be back for a longer stay!

We loved our stay in the cabin on the campground. Nice activities for kids. Only improvement really is cleaning. The restroom in our area was cleaned infrequently ( the same toilet paper was on the floor for over a day) and the camping kitchen area was very filthy.

Our site was not very level. This problem could be fixed with about $150 of gravel. Not doing this implies a lack of pride in the sites of the campground.

We’ve been to the Palmer Gulch KOA several times over the years and love it. The tent site we were assigned (34) was the worst tent site we’ve had. I can’t fathom who thought it would be a good idea to put a family of 6 + 3 dogs on top of other campers on this ridiculously small campground. The site was small and having my 2 year old nap impossible. We upgraded the site but it was a downgrad

The grounds were wonderful. Our cabin was comfortable. Our family was able to do so much here, it was great

Make it more obvious that the camping cabins DO NOT have a microwave or refrigerator.

Our site was too close to the one next to us to enjoy it. We will come back but choose a different apace/area to stay next time!

We stayed in the RV section for 4 days while at a family reunion in cabins, etc. What a HUGE and WONDERFUL KOA!!! So much to see and do within the campground including rentals of golf carts, Pancake breakfasts - literally outside our door - things for kids to do a great gift shop and chuck wagon dinner. Plus being close to Keystone, Mt. Rushmore and Custer state park. It was awesome!!!

The spaces were very tight, smoke was very bad from all the campfires
Aug 09, 2023
Amenities were great. Site was not great and felt like this was added because there was just a little bit extra land to cram a spot into. Very hard to get in and out of and had no parking and was barely long enough for my trailer.

No Wi-Fi. Very tight sites. Charged for pets, without any reason provided previously in paperwork.

I try to stay at KOA whenever our family is camping. This was the dirtiest KOA I have ever been to. There was literally mold growing in the showers and the drains backed up. Not very hygienic. The location was great. Our neighbors were loud, obnoxious, and partied until 230am. My kids didn't sleep at all. Too bad the staff didn't seem to care about any of it.

This is a very large KOA. It has a lot of activities, small shops, and breakfast available. I had mechanical problems with my motorhome. They were booked solid and made it possible to stay more nights for parts to come in. I would recommend this KOA if going to Mt Rushmore close to the National Park entrance.

Was standing at the check-in counter with no one at the reception… a very polite staff walked passed and said sorry give me a second. She went to the office area behind counter and got this guy who must have been eating his lunch. He came to the counter, unfriendly then proceeded to BURP in our face. Not enough characters to write review! Park is great this guy should be cleaning toilets!

Love this resort! There is so much to do, everything is clean, a lot of food options and close to attractions. I just wish we had a space heater in the cabin as it was chilly overnight.

Loved everything about this campground! Friendly staff and so much to do! Highly recommended.

We had such a great time! The rodeo was fantastic, so organized and fun to watch! My kids loved it! Pool was nice, although the water slide is very cold! The playground was great and overall so much to do! Even in the rain my kids had the best time riding bikes and going for ice cream. The little ice cream/pizza shop was great! I loved the coffee/wine shop, definitely my fav! Can't wait to go back

Loved the place!

We had a break down and the folks there allowed us to pull.our RV off to a quit section, told us we could stay as long as it would take to get repaired. Thanks to the employees of Palmer Gulch

The bathrooms were a long walk away from the cabins. Also, the cleaning and refuel station was located right across the road causing propane fumes to waft our way and we had to close our windows while this was happening. Also, the vehicles they rent are very noisy starting early in the morning. We had been up late for the Mt. Rushmore night lighting ceremony so sleeping in wasn't an option.

Such a great place to camp. Cabins, lodge hotel, and campsites. This is one of the few full service campgrounds in the country. Huge store, coffee shop, horseback riding stables, ice cream shop, and so much more. See our YouTube channel Coolest Life.

We had a KOA deluxe patio site. Concrete patio, fire pit, furniture and gas grill! Space was very large and easily accommodated our 32' MH with 2 slides. This is a very kid friendly place with lots to do. Trail horse rides, water slide, pool, and sport courts. You are in the Black Hills mountains, but WIFI was very good nonetheless. They also have adult things to do like fishing (need a license) ATV and car rentals on site. There is also a bar and grill on site as well. Activities are planned throughout the day or you can just rest and relax. Staff was very helpful and friendly. We lost power for about an hour due to a transformer catching on fire, but it was fixed very quickly. Cost was a little pricey ($130/night but they give you a 25% discount coupon for use in their gift shop for apparel. This was a nice camp site!!

This place is an absolute treasure. Location is excellent, bathrooms spotless, and tons of activities and dining without ever even leaving the campground. I tend to stay at 3-5 KOAs on my travels every year, and this is hands down the best. On another note, I accidentally (stupidly) left an expensive GoPro at my site (I use for my YT channel) and one of the employees found it, turned it in, and kept it safe for me while I drove back 100 miles to retrieve it. Literally the best campground with the best staff ever.
