New pull thrus on the way! (chapter 2)

New pull thrus on the way! (chapter 2)

Our new and improved campsites are coming along nicely! Here is an update as of 02/04/2024.

Before we jump into it and show you all that we have been doing, we wanted to take a minute and reflect on the past. This moment is meant to remind us that we want to "Leave yesterday's baggage behind." Because "Happiness lives in what's beyond, not what lies behind." We have to "Forget about what is no more." Ok, ok, enough of the cliche quotes that I copied from Google. Honestly, though, It's almost hard to recall what this area looked like before the start of our construction. Does anyone remember this?

This is what our pull-thru sites used to offer. Look right there! You can see those little rectangular patios we were talking about, in all of their glory, barely big enough for a picnic table and a couple of lawn chairs. You can see the grass struggling to hang on. A lot of you know how that grass turned into a beautiful shade of beige before summer would end. Unfortunately, watering, fertilizing, and really just taking care of that grass posed a big problem, especially when campers were BBQing or lounging around in lawn chairs. It turns out that squirting people with a garden hose is a darn quick way to upset an otherwise "happy camper," even if we were wearing those fancy yellow KOA shirts.

                                                                      On with the program!

We are just starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Granted, there is still a LOT to do before this area is completely done, but many of you have been asking how the progress is coming. So, here are a few shots giving you another sneak peek. Still to come is landscaping. This is really going to set these sites apart from the others. We can't wait until spring to start planting!

Here is a close-up of one of the main things people like about camping: the good old campfire pit. We had these custom-made, and boy, are they beefy! Our staff feels that the KOA logo adds a custom touch. These firepits are larger than all of the other fire rings throughout our campground. These are a whopping 30" in diameter. They are raised up for a comfortable height to sit around. They should offer plenty of fire to roast any marshmallow!

If you are not 100% confident in your fire-building skills, check this out: How to Build a Campfire

                                                                       Similar, but not the same

Although these campsites are all fairly similar, each one definitely has its own unique aspect. Here are a couple of sneak peeks of one of our KOA Patio Sites. These sites feature Polywood furniture, as opposed to our standard pull-thru sites that offer a single picnic table. Fire features are either set into the concrete patio or they are placed in a dedicated area filled with compact granite/gravel. Some sites have trees, and some don't, all will eventually have plants, shrubs and probably some splashes of color.

We hope you like what you see. We will post more pictures as work continues.

Thank you,
Lynden KOA Staff
