Jefferson County's Best Kept Secret!

It's our 15th YEAR ANNIVERSARY as a KOA! We're a fantastic vacation destination spot that's perfect for the whole family. Thanks to you, this year we received the 2010 FOUNDER'S AWARD - one of KOA's most prestigious and the 2010 PRESIDENT'S AWARD. That means our campground facilities and Camper satisfaction scores are some of the best around. We are making things even better in 2011! Like opening the doors of our new Specialty Coffee and Wine Store, GRAPES & GRINDS, and adding even more brand new studio lodges that sleep 4 and offer private bath and kitchenette. Plus, with our anniversary theme comes a lot of special activities - including the burying of a time capsule that'll tell future campers what a great time we're havin' right now.

Now, we still have all of the fun stuff you've come to love about our kampground, like Polly's Poolside Lookout, our awesome Giant Jumping Pillow, Kamp K-9 Dog Park, Themed Weekends, Civil War Living History Museum and our unbeatable cannon-firing. So make your plans now to come and celebrate our anniversary with us - and make some history all your own. See ya soon!

Dale Brechlin and his wife, Jane, came to West Virginia to manage the Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefield, West Virginia KOA, after traveling the country in their RV with their two Golden Retriever-Australian Shepard-mix dogs, a cat and their Parrot Alex. They both gave up their corporate careers and decided to travel while they could. In all, Dale has been to 46 states.

Dale is a scout leader, a Rotarian, and an outdoor enthusiast. "I love white water, hiking, and camping. We have had all the different kinds of campers except a fifth wheel. We currently own a Newmar class A," says Dale.

Dale and Jane love the West Virginia mountains, rivers, and the civil war history.

Regarding his campers, Dale says, "I believe in treating customers the way I need to be treated as a customer, because I understand how they feel. We are a destination campground and I love the atmosphere here with the families who come to get away from the busy weeks' work and be entertained."
