Campsites overlook a majestic mountain lake, perfect for swimming and boating (pedal boat and canoe rentals available). Walk the "Moose Path" along its shore. Endless trails-some easy, some demanding-explore the contours and vistas of this stunning land. Join interpretive kayak tours to glide among glacier carved fjords. The outdoors has always been important to Shawn and Charlene Shears - owners of Newfoundland's first KOA. They grew up with Gros Morne National Park as their playground. Being avid outdoor enthusiasts, they jumped at the chance to be involved in the family campground in 1997.

Shawn, a conservation officer, and Charlene, a physical education teacher both sought ways to improve the campground facilities and service. After much consideration (and 2 children later!), they converted the family campground to a KOA in 2004.

"It was a great deal of work," said Shawn, "with work commitments, 2 small children and a summer business, but it was well worth the effort as we have received numerous awards as a result. In 2008, todaysparent.com labeled us as 1 of the best 25 family campgrounds in Canada!"

"We have always prided ourselves in great facilities and service," stated Charlene, "but we would not have gotten this far without the help of a wonderful staff who care for the campground as if it were their own!"

You may find Shawn, Charlene, Natalie and Joshua at the campground any time of the year enjoying the great outdoors including skiing, hiking, sledding, swimming, etc. They would love to share a little piece of their "paradise" with you.
