This campground is an oasis of green lawns and mature shade trees on the dry High Plains of northwestern Kansas. After a long day on the road, take a dip in the pool or play a game of mini golf. The whole family can stretch their legs thanks to a playground and large pet exercise area. Goodland's High Plains Museum contains a replica of America's first patented helicopter, built by two local men in 1909. Browse exhibits on High Plains history. At the fairgrounds, a giant 32-foot-high replica of Vincent van Gogh's famous sunflower painting rises on an 80-foot easel, a tribute to Kansas' status as the Sunflower State. Less than an hour north of Goodland, hike and mountain-bike quiet country roads dotted with yucca and prairie flowers throughout the rugged Arikaree Breaks, a cluster of badlands along the Arikaree River.

Local Attractions

High Plains Museum The museum is home of America’s first patented helicopter, and much early Sherman County History. It is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. There is no admission fee. It takes approximately one hour and 30 minutes to view.

Sugar Hills Golf Club Sugar Hills Golf Club is the only 18-hole course in North Western Kansas.

Kidder Massacre Open daylight hours. No admission fee. Approximate time is two hours and 30 minutes.
