Open April 20 - October 14

Our 4 acre lake with sandy beach is perfect for swimming and fishing. No license needed - catch and release.

Please Note: Our KOA has a number of Ash trees. In an effort to protect them from the Emerald Ash Borer we can no longer permit any of our guests to bring their own firewood. The state of Michigan recommends no moving of firewood in the State and no outside wood brought into any campgrounds.

Come, relax and enjoy yourself on our beautiful 40-acres with large wooded sites. RV sites, tent sites and Kamping Kabins on the lake. We have a family focused atmosphere with a wide variety of activities for all ages. Our 4 acre lake with sandy beach is perfect for swimming and fishing. No license needed - catch and release.

The campground is a pleasant one-hour drive from Detroit or Flint. We are within minutes of historic Port Huron - boyhood home of the inventor, Thomas Edison, the starting place for the Mackinac Sailboat Race, site of an annual antique car parade, the "Twin Bridges" and not to forget historic lighthouses and boat watching on one of the heaviest traveled rivers in the world.

Port Huron is a water wonderland! Located on St. Clair River and Lake Huron, you are sure to enjoy all it has to offer. From fishing for perch, walleye and salmon to "Art in the Park" free weekly concerts on the Black River during the summer, there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy.

Visitors to the campground are welcome; however, we do ask that you check in at the office to purchase your visitation pass.

Fun packed family vacations were a treat that Chris and Debbie Pietras always tried to provide and those vacations came in the form of great camping trips. While both had busy schedules, Chris owned a wholesale meat business, and Debbie, who continues to be a full-time registered nurse, were able to get away for quick weekend trips.

"The weekend trips never did seem long enough and we always thought owning a campground would be a great way to have the experience last longer," says Debbie. "We found a way that allowed us to continue working with people, be outdoors at the same time and allow us time with our family," says Chris. Owning the Emmett KOA has given them just that...and a whole lot more.

The Pietras' daughter, Amy, manages the campground full time. She graduated from Wayne State University with a teaching degree. Amy and her husband Dan had a baby boy in September 2010 giving Chris and Debbie their first grandson named Angelo. Their son, Christopher Jr., is teaching at Mills Park Middle School in Cary NC teaching Business Education classes.

Keeping the campers happy and entertained is another great side effect they have enjoyed since coming into the campground business. "We pride ourselves on delivering pleasant customer service and making sure there is a friendly atmosphere throughout the campground," says Debbie. The interaction that take place during the weekend pancake breakfasts help to ensure that friendly atmosphere.

Even with the enjoyment of a busy campground, the Pietras' look forward to the off season so they can continue their first love of camping, along with cooking and entertaining.
