This campground is very well kept and the staff is very friendly. My only complaint which has nothing to do with the campground itself is the noise from the highway. Otherwise it's a great site

tent site on grass by river...nice to be by the water. Easy access from highway which means very noisy from traffic. Bathrooms clean and updating them would be nice compared to other KOAs we have stayed at. Quick stopover for us.

Very kind and helpful for 2 women camping. You have staff that are great, endevoreous workers. Also thoughtful.
Sep 18, 2016
It was very noisy from the highway. Staff was untrained and answered questions they didn't know the answers to. I feel like I was bothering them.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

The staff member checking this guest in has been with us for over 2 years and is an exceptional person and role model.

This KOA is really well kept and is quite nice. It is along a really beautiful river. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

Perfect night

The tent sites are very close to the HWY and it can be noisy with traffic and the train that tends to go by. In addition to that noise there was the noise from the diesel trucks from a group of vets that where doing a fishing tournament.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

It is posted on our website we have road noise. We call guests who make tent reservations online and advise them we have road noise since we are on the corner of Thorp Hwy. and I-90 off/on ramp. The train is 1/2-3/4 mile from our campground. We suggest ear plugs for guests who are light sleepers.

After 8pm it becomes anarchy as there is no security or anyone to maintain any since of order. People are partying/loud/rowdy, having fires during a burn ban till the early morning hours when others right next to them (20 feet) are trying to sleep. There are sketchy drunk guys making girls feel uncomfortable. People watching porn and fu**ing in the bathroom-right in the open where everyone can see

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We have a security guard from 9pm-2am every weekend during the summer season. We cannot have security cameras in the bathrooms. The fires were propane fires which are allowed during a burn ban. This guest did not come to management with their concerns.

Great facilities every year.

Great time, thanks

We stayed 3 nights over Labor Day Weekend and had a great time! The staff was very helpful and our trip went very smoothly. The only slightly annoying thing was that we camped out in the "outback" area and the closest restroom was 4 porta potties that we a bit gross by the start of the weekend. Other than that it was great!

It would have gotten all stars had it not been for one of the older ladies who worked the front desk. She was rude and condescending to customers. I witnessed on several occasions her becoming combative with other guests who had been coming to that same Koa for 6 years. Everyone else was extremely nice and helpful. The campground was extremely clean and the amenities were great! I will be back!

Excellent place to stay with children. Many activities for them to do: playgrounds, pool, bikes, basketball, volleyball and a grassy area for other sports. The venue is nice, we camped in a spot right by the river.
Aug 30, 2016
I give this KOA a 2 star because there are no kid activites scheduled we often stay at KoAs and they do movie night and icecream socials anything would be nice
Aug 30, 2016
Campground was alright but i gave 2 star for the staff that day who answer the phone, when i called she told me that no cabin and tent site available; they have lots of empty sites....

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Guests have to understand sites appear empty to them but, in reality, they have reservations on them for guests arriving later in the day.

Other than the wind and the traffic noise, it was a wonderful camping experience. The grounds and the amenities were in top form.
Aug 27, 2016
I love KOA's This one has so much road noise though. Mass Trucks that are very loud at night, Slept with ear plugs. OTHERWISE, I really like the place for sure.
Aug 26, 2016
We typically use KOA's for our long camping trip at the end of the season because there is normally more for the kids to do. Although the pool and staff were awesome, we were a bit disappointed with the TV and game rooms, especially when it was super windy and we couldn't play games at our site.
Aug 23, 2016
If we had been in a trailer it may have changed my rating but being in a tent was not fun. We were packed like sardines and felt like we had no room to move. We didn't even unload out things from the back to the truck. The office crew was great. Everyone in there was very nice and helpful and prices in the general store were not outrageous.
Aug 22, 2016
Staff is great and friendly. Campground was one of the nicest and cleanest I've seen. Pool was amazing and clean. However, the road noise was unbearable. I wish more warning was given. I specifically asked and was told it wasn't really bad. We had a hard time sleeping. In my opinion, move the trailers closer to the road noise since they won't hear it.
Aug 22, 2016
Loud road traffic throughout the night. No shade at our tent site. The bike rental was very expensive and the pool was small.
Aug 17, 2016
This was our 3rd time back, unfortunately we probably won't be going again. The first day there the pool broke down in 95' heat with 2 kids begging to swim, second morning the women's showers broke too, now really disappointed and lastly to top things off, the office girl was rude and said when I complained that we could leave and she would refund us the one night! Really! wont stay again!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Unfortunately the pump in the pool failed Sunday, 8/14. On Monday morning, the shower drain in our women's main bathroom was clogged (lots of long hair that weekend. We had to close and snake it. Guest showered in our satellite restroom. Refund offered for inconvenience. Not meant to be offensive.

Nice place, lots of activities, love it!
Aug 15, 2016
A great location, right on the river. Friendly, courteous staff and a clean campground. Overall one of the best camping experiences of our 3 month journey across our great country.
Aug 15, 2016
We had a great stay. Very handy for our needs. Vry nice neighbors and the road noise, though real, was not very distracting.
Aug 15, 2016
Unexpected to be welcomed with a big yawn by check-in staff, but owner Gail was very friendly and did a couple of nice little things that made our stay more comfortable and enjoyable.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Sorry for the unconventional greeting. We have had an extremely busy summer. Our Front Desk Staff have been working overtime.
Aug 14, 2016
A great KOA. Clean facilities, nice camp store with ice, even nicer people to help you with whatever you need.
Aug 14, 2016
It's like park in the higway. I can't understand why KOA have this campground.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We have road noise in our park due to our close proximity to I-90 & Thorp Hwy. We advise guests about this when they call in or make internet reservations. We give people options to cancel if this is an issue for them. We suggest ear plugs and/or running fans in RVs to create white noise to help.
Aug 11, 2016
honestly the location is a joke especially for tents. It'under a highway with constant road noise and trucks waking you up in the middle of the nights. The site for tents looks like a Parking lot and people are almost on top of you. No privacy. The river is inaccessible and behind trees. The bathroom and the campgrounds are kept clean but only the RV side looks decent for a stay. I don't recommend.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

This guest was from out of state. She made an internet reservation for the same day she arrived and we were unable to contact her by phone to advise about road noise. We are on the corner of I-90 and Thorp Hwy. We try to be proactive about contacting guests regarding our tent site conditions.
Aug 09, 2016
I would recommend this location as a last resort only. The location next to the freeway made it impossible to sleep. Also, our neighbors were up until 2:30AM and were extremely drunk, noisy and rude. At no time did ANYONE from KOA walk through the 'campground' to make sure people were observing the quiet hours. Unbelievable. People in store were very friendly though. Enforce the quiet hours.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

These guests were here during the weekend of the Watershed concert at the Gorge Amphitheater. People arrived back at the campground very late. We have a private security guard company on the weekends from 9pm to 2am enforcing quiet hours. We are on the corner of I-90 and Thorp Hwy. Road noise here.
Aug 08, 2016
There were no family/community activities, the games room and family room were lame. They opened up bike rentals at random times often with excuses as to why they were not. We love KOA's. We did not love this one.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We have a pool, volley ball, horse shoes, basket ball and lend other sporting equipment. Game room has ping pong and air hockey. Family room has a TV and tables and chairs for our tenters. Bike rentals at 9am Mon-Sat & 11am on Sunday as a safety precaution with many guests departing the park.
Aug 08, 2016
couple of tent site located right next to trash bins and couple of tent site squeezed into kids play area ...some things to reconsider.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Tent sites on the front lawn are spacious and deeper than those on the river. There are four 33 gallon trash barrels inside a 3 sided redwood fenced area for those guests to use. We try to make trash disposal convenient for our guests.
Aug 08, 2016
The staff is super friendly, and the grounds are kept very clean- but we were very disappointed by the amount of college aged campers on the tent sites near us that were constantly drunk to all hours of the night, and smoking pot all day long. Our family was not able to be at our tents at all. Sleep was hard to come by. This KOA sits right on the freeway. So, tent sleeping is super difficult.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Guests were here the weekend of the Watershed Concert at the Gorge Amphitheater. July/August also very busy with people tubing/floating the Yakima River. We have a security guard on duty from 9-2am Fri/Sat. nights. Was not made aware of the pot smoking. Marijuana is now legal in Washington State.

I loved the convenience and the space I had.
Aug 01, 2016
Kind of torn about our experience. On one hand, the bathrooms were VERY clean. But the rules (no fires) were not enforced. We were made aware of the highway noise and that was not a problem but our neighbors partying until 2am w/ a prohibited fired was pretty annoying. Also rather expensive. We would stay again but will look for other options first.
Aug 01, 2016
The facilities were great however we happened to get stuck next to a large loud group that drank and talked until 3 Am and did not honor the burn ban in place.
Aug 01, 2016
Clean facilities and great atmosphere!
Aug 01, 2016
The grounds are kept very clean. The only thing was the campers were very noisy and at very late hours. There was a guard walking around but didn't seem to be controlling the noise.
Aug 01, 2016
Was in a tent spot near the pool. It was a family tent site with several different tents and families. We had to walk through other campsites to get to ours. The road noise was awful. The entire night it felt as though cars were going to come over the guard rail. There was a burn ban in effect with also no charcoal allowed. I had to buy a propane grill. A large bon fire that night near us.

We've been looking for a place to make our 'annual family camp spot' and decided Ellensburg KOA is going to be it. Very clean, well kept, family friendly and nice staff. Though it's right on the hwy, night time traffic and noise was very minimal. Only "complaint" is quite a few spaces don't have shade... But they share that on the website so even this wasn't an issue as we brought a canopy.
Jul 30, 2016
People at the desk were very helpful to move us into a shady spot when the weather was hotter than we expected.
Jul 27, 2016
This was my first stay at a KOA. I tent camped. It was nice that the basic tent sites were separated from the RV sites. The only complaint, as others have noted, is that the location is dominated by the noise of I-90 running practically next door. Having said that, the roar is so constant that once you get used to it you hardly hear it. The location is also very convenient to Ellensburg.
Jul 26, 2016
Very nice, clean cabin, friendly service.. would stay again!
Jul 26, 2016
Bathroom was very clean, site was a good size, mostly quiet, pool was a great addition and the playground was a huge hit with my kids. Great place to stay.
Jul 26, 2016
The dog park at the camp ground is a amazing idea and we loved it!
Jul 25, 2016
Jul 25, 2016
The campsites are very small for 6 people but it was a great stay and we had a great time!!
Jul 25, 2016
The stay was fine but there was some misunderstanding about the cost of the sites. Do the prices you give only apply to two people? I was told up to 6 per site was ok...

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

All campsite rates are based upon double occupancy like hotels. Extra people are $5 unless they are children 0-5 years of age. We allow 6 people maximum per site. Our Family Tent area is the only exception to this. There you can have 6 people for a flat rate. It's the value plan for families.
