General Campground Information

Closure of 385

We wanted to let our guests know that Hy 385 from Deadwood to Hy 16 will be closed during the 2024 season.  Please plan alternate routes depending on which direction you are coming from.  If coming from Yellowstone on 90 get off at Gillette on 16 and follow all the way to our campground.  If coming from the east on 90 follow the reg. route.  Coming up from Hot Springs it shouldn't affect you.

Select A Site

We now offer Select A Site.  For a one time charge of $20.00 you can select the site you want, if it is available, and lock it in.  You do this while making your reservation on line.

Store Hours

May 1 through May 23 the store hours will be 7:30-8PM.  May 23 through September 9 we will extend our hours until 9PM.

After Hours Check-in

Enjoy your travels and attractions, don't rush in on our account.  For your convenience we have a late registration box.  Your site map, vehicle tag and instructions to your site will be posted in the night registration box (Yellow box) to the left of the front office door. Register and pay in the morning, if you arrive after office hours.

Bathhouse/Restrooms

We have two bathhouses on site. Both are open 24/7. A code (provided on your map) is needed for the front bathhouse.

Check-in and Check -out times

Check in time for RV and Tent sites is 1PM.  Cabins is 2PM.
Check out time for all areas is 11:00 AM.

Firewood Policy

Campfires are permitted in designated areas.  Only firewood bought in South Dakota is allowed to be burned.  This is a South Dakota Law.

Campfires

We have fire pits for all sites.  Firewood must be purchased in South Dakota and we have bundles of wood at the camp store for your convenience. Campfires are part of camping but they can be dangerous. Please put all fires out before retiring for the evening.

Campstore/Office

Check out our awesome selection of LOCAL products, such as wine from Prairie Berry, or beer from the Black Tooth and Sturgis Brewery.  Our camp store is also stocked with ice, grocery items, beverages and snacks.  We also have some health and beauty supplies, such as shampoo, toothpaste, sunscreen, soap and lip balm.  Camping supplies, like sewer and water hoses, firewood, charcoal, and fire starters.  Souvenirs such as shirts, caps, postcards, magnets, stickers and key chains.  We have a small selection of toys, including stuffed animals, games and puzzles.

Hours: 7:30am-8:00pm, 7 days a week during the season. 7:30am-7pm after 9/17/2023

Pool Hours and Dates of operation

Pool Hours-9:00
Dates of operation is from Memorial weekend to Labor Day weekend.

Visitor Policy

Daytime Visitors are welcome but must check in at the office.  Overnight visitors must come to office so they can pay a nightly fee.  Everyone must obyed by all rules.

Jumping Pillow

Hours during season: 
8:00am - 8:00pm
Must sign a waiver for children under 18 years old.

Quiet time

Quiet time is 10:00 PM to 7:30 Am.  Be considerate of your neighbors.

Laundry Room

  • Located by the bathhouse in the rear of the campground
  • Coin Operated - Quarters sold in the camp store
  • Open 24/7
  • No key or code needed

Mailbox

For your convenience, we have a mailbox in the camp store and we also sell postage stamps.

Site Occupancy Policy

Each RV site is designed for a maximum of 1 recreational vehicle and 1 towing/towed vehicle. There are no tents allowed on RV sites.
Tent sites may have 1 tent per site and must stay within the tent pad boundaries.

Smoking

We pride ourselves on being a safe and healthy place to vacation. Smoking is not permitted in any building, pavilion, cabin, lodge, store or any other building on the property, including bathrooms. Smoking is only permitted on your site or in open areas where others are not being effected.

Tent Sites

For preservation of our tent sites, vehicles or anything with wheels are not permitted on the TENT PAD. 
Vehicles may park along side of the tent pad.

Trash Disposal

We work very hard to keep our campground impeccably clean.  Please do your part by keeping your site clean and orderly.  We have several trash cans and dumpsters located throughout the campground.

Dave and Treva are from Columbus, Indiana and have been work kamping for 6 years.  They have spent a little time all around the US and this will be their 4th summer in Custer, South Dakota.
