Meet Your Hosts
People are very intriguing to the Bacot family. According to Glen, this is what keeps the family in the camping business. "People are very diverse and interesting and they all have different reasons for traveling. We see a spatter of everything around here," he said. "You only need to take the time to visit with them."
The Baton Rouge KOA has been a family affair for three generations and counting. Sam and Louise purchased the campground in the seventies, and their sons, Glen and Ted, have helped all their lives. Glen Jr., Glen's son, has since joined the family in running the campground, ensuring a long running family-oriented campground. "Our parents love to chat with people and enjoy the landscaping," said Glen. "We take care of everything on the grounds, and Ted and Jr. can handle everyone's needs."
For the Bacot's, music is a sanctuary from their busy life. They own their own recording studio and record label; they are avid musicians and love to share their sounds with campers. Their focus is on their campers, and the Bacot's believe customer service is important. "This is their home for the evening," Glen said about his guests. Campers are able to enjoy the tall, mature oaks that provide wonderful shade in the summer, keep cool in the swimming pool with the attached waterfall, and children can enjoy the kiddie pool. "We are in close proximity to many major plantations and about an hour drive from New Orleans," said Glen.
Like their guests, the Bacot family loves to travel and as Glen added, "We have crawled all over the country."

Louisiana Steam Train Old Hickory Railroad
ALL ABOARD! Take a ride on the Old Hickory Railroad, a working steam engine that celebrates the history of the railroads in the area. The Clinton Port Hudson Railroad, which included a spur to Jackson was incorporated in 1833 and played an important role in the early development of the area. In the early years the railroad was vital in hauling cotton and later hauled troops and supplies in the siege of Port Hudson.
Today the Old Hickory Railroad runs each weekend from March through November. Riders are taken on a scenic 45 minute journey back in time and past several historic sites in Jackson, including the original campus of Centenary College. See The Old Hickory Railroad website for more information.

A two week long world famous festival starting two weeks prior to Ash Wednesday and ending on Mardi Gras Day, February 21, 2012, the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday with an all-day statewide celebration. One of College Football's great traditions takes place in New Orleans during the Annual Allstate Sugar Bowl. In its 78th year, the Sugar Bowl remains one of college athletics favorite events. Celebration in the Oak - A Christmas Attraction
Celebration in the Oaks, New Orleans' premiere Christmas attraction, adds sparkle to the holidays. Here, revelers take a two mile driving tour through the hundred year old oak trees, all dressed up in two million sparkling lights. Walk through the 12 acre Botanical Gardens, amusement park and fairytale theme park. New light displays include Dinomation, a fun dinosaur exhibit that is bigger than life. Also look for a 32 foot animated paddlewheel boat called "Rolling on the River" which will float through the lagoons nightly. Nearby is another new animated exhibit of famous local musicians and instruments, "Crescent City Music". This is a night of holiday lights, music and food for the whole family. Be sure to walk to the back of the garden to see the new miniature train exhibit, with tiny buildings of the French Quarter throughout the route. Of course there are the annual favorites like the Cajun Santa in a pirogue pulled by alligators and the miles of lights twinkling from the live oak trees. Christmas Eve Bonfires on the Levee
Creoles and Cajuns of yesteryear lit bonfires on the levee during the holidays to light the way for Papa Noel (Santa Claus). Today's bonfire celebration continues this tradition with elaborate structures created on the Mississippi River between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, sometimes taking months to build. The bonfires are lit on Christmas Eve to light the way for Papa Noel's visit and burn throughout the night, creating a festive atmosphere.
