People are very intriguing to the Bacot family. According to Glen, this is what keeps the family in the camping business. "People are very diverse and interesting and they all have different reasons for traveling. We see a spatter of everything around here," he said. "You only need to take the time to visit with them."

The Baton Rouge KOA has been a family affair for three generations and counting. Sam and Louise purchased the campground in the seventies, and their sons, Glen and Ted, have helped all their lives. Glen Jr., Glen's son, has since joined the family in running the campground, ensuring a long running family-oriented campground. "Our parents love to chat with people and enjoy the landscaping," said Glen. "We take care of everything on the grounds, and Ted and Jr. can handle everyone's needs."

For the Bacot's, music is a sanctuary from their busy life. They own their own recording studio and record label; they are avid musicians and love to share their sounds with campers. Their focus is on their campers, and the Bacot's believe customer service is important. "This is their home for the evening," Glen said about his guests. Campers are able to enjoy the tall, mature oaks that provide wonderful shade in the summer, keep cool in the swimming pool with the attached waterfall, and children can enjoy the kiddie pool. "We are in close proximity to many major plantations and about an hour drive from New Orleans," said Glen.

Like their guests, the Bacot family loves to travel and as Glen added, "We have crawled all over the country."

Parades Special

OK, it's that time of year again. Time to catch a few beads, watch a few parades and enjoy the culture that we are surrounded with. As the weather turns from winter to spring and the weekends are incredibly awesome, it is time to get out there and enjoy life in Louisiana. At Baton Rouge KOA located in Denham Springs (click for a map) we are enjoying the early spring, looking forward to hosting your family getaway. Maybe more important, the season of Mardi Gras, where revelry is the norm and good times are to be had by all. With that in mind we are particularly delighted to announce our Mardi Gras 2012 Special. We are offering a very festive special. Pay for two nights at our award winning campground and get the third night FREE. That's right, all services of our award winning campground available to you and yours for three nights for the price of two including a full hookup pull through site with water, electricity, sewer, Cox basic cable extended and wireless internet. Add in the convenience of being close to home (hey, at $3 a gallon or more for fuel, it just makes good sense to travel less and camp more.) And to make it even more enticing and fun, in the spirit of the season of 'laissez les bon temps rouler', we are offering unlimited mini-golf for your entire stay. So, grab up that special person in your life, and let's go camping. Parades, Parades, and yes more parades. That is what Mardi Gras is all about. And to help you decide or just ponder, here is a list of some of the parades that we have found for you that are just a few minutes or more from Baton rouge KOA. OK, so here is all you have to do. Decide which days between now and Mardi Gras you want to take advantage of this fantastic special, clear your calendar, maybe even get a babysitter for the kids (ain't that what grandparents are for?), although we welcome the kids and have lots for them to do and play with such as our fabulous playground area and well equipped game room and the city park next door. We are just a click away or call one of our friendly registration persons at 225.664.7281 and mention the secret code 'I want the Mardi Gras Special;' or just say 'Discount Code C1' and one awesome weekend, or just a couple weekdays, is coming your way.
