Barbie Fallon and Ruth House

"Let's dream about next summer's fun! Book your campsite now and make plans to enjoy all there is to see and do at Acadia National Park."

Growing up in the emerald necklace that surrounds Cleveland, Ohio gave Barb Fallon her love of hiking, biking, and all forms of water sports. Summer there meant camping, mainly in the Ohio Valley or the Allegheny Mountains. Most of the vacations throughout my life have involved camping of some sort, from primitive hike in/hike out to the luxury of an RV motorhome or camping cabin, says Barb, whose friends call her Barbie, and I hope you will too!Barbies fondest camping memory is of a seven-day bicycle/camping trip from Gainesville, Florida to Gainesville, Georgia. Without a doubt, the Georgia Mountains are great, says Barbie, but it is people that camp make a trip wonderful. Six days in, after a particularly rainy and tiring day of peddling up the road, the group set up camp in the Oconee Natl Forest. Our camping neighbor found out it was my birthday and built me a campfire cake, Barbie recalls. Cozy and warm, we toasted to my birthday, to our new friends, and a few marshmallows. I still keep in touch with them to this day.Though she hails from the Midwest, she migrated south after school and eventually her and her partner Ruth joined the Naples / Marco Island KOA team. Barbie went into KOAs Manager Trainee program, then Barbie and Ruth spent a summer working in Bar Harbor. During the past two years theyve been based in Trinity Lake KOA in California, earning a Presidents Award in 2012 and a Founders Award in 2013!Barbie looks forward to taking on the role of General Manager of the Bar Harbor / Oceanside and Bar Harbor / Woodlands KOAs, and she and Ruth are very excited to return to Maine and Mount Desert Isle. It is one of our favorite KOAs!
