No planes, trains or automobiles!

Badlands / White River KOA lies just 4 miles from Badlands National Park, where tabletop buttes and craggy bluffs rise from the nation's largest protected mixed-grass prairie. Here, guests relax in the shade from hundreds of mature trees beside the peaceful White River . You won't hear trains, planes or even many automobiles, but you will enjoy amenities like a large swimming pool, mini golf, and a playground. Wildlife sightings are common as Bald Eagles, Prairie Dogs, Turkeys, and Beaver make their homes in and around the campground. Campers can take a short drive through beautiful scenery to the famous Wall Drug for a 5 cent cup of coffee, or enjoy the many trails and overlooks in Badlands National Park. Leave the work to us: Hot Breakfasts and Indian Taco dinners are served daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Meet Your Hosts

Realizing that their kids were growing up fast, Steve and Marci started looking for a new adventure for their family. They wanted to work together and make lasting memories. Since some of their favorite family memories were made during a brief stint living in an RV and during later camping trips, they decided to leave the suburbs behind and purchase a campground. All four Kyles and their tabby cat packed up and moved to a beautiful oasis in the badlands.

Now, their goal is to treat every guest like family. Steve grew up around a family business and later pursued a career in product management. He knows that an emphasis on quality and attention to detail are what makes a business memorable. That’s why you’ll experience sparkling clean restrooms, hearty hot breakfasts and friendly, helpful staff. Marci is a sign language interpreter and has worked with international students. Communication is her strong suit. Her focus is on making your stay GREAT. Both of them want your experience at Badlands KOA to be one that you will remember for all of the right reasons.

Because this is about family, campers will also see the Kyle kids pitching in. They have great ideas about how to have fun and are a great resource for information on where to hike or see wildlife. Activities at Badlands KOA are kid-tested and kid-approved.

Whether you are looking for some family fun, or prefer shady peace and quiet, the Kyles invite you to join their “camping family”.

Campground Activities

Let us do the cooking! Photo

Let us do the cooking!

Don't miss these great opportunities at our Kook House. Very popular is our all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast. We serve up hundreds of pancakes with side orders of sausage, bacon, and coffee, OJ, milk, or water to quench your thirst. Delicious biscuits and gravy are also an option. Indian Tacos are our latest big hit. We start with "Woodenknife" fry bread, made locally, and pile on seasoned beef, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes with salsa & sour cream on the side. Our guests love this local favorite and it is a complete meal. We also serve cheesy fry bread and for dessert we offer cinnamon fry bread or ice cream.

Nature Walks

Stroll the perimeter of our 31 acre campground and enjoy the serenity of the White River and views of the Badlands. Bird watchers will marvel at the Cliff Swallows nesting by the thousands, under the bridges bordering our property.

Campfires

Camping is not complete without a nice campfire. The KOA is one of the few campgrounds where campfires are allowed in the Badlands area. Plenty of wood is available for sale in our store.

Swimming

It can get warm in the Badlands and there is no better way to cool off than a dip in our large built-in swimming pool. A kiddy pool is also available for the little ones.

Romp with Rover

Exercise your pooch in our 150 'x 50' dog park. It is large enough to play fetch and give your dog a good run or watch him frolic with other dog pals while you sit in the shade on the garden swing.

Mini-golf Photo

Mini-golf

Practice those short shots on our on-site miniature golf course or if you want to get more serious, Wall has a nice 9 hole, 36 par golf course you can visit with amazing views along the way.

Horseshoes

Horseshoes are available free of charge for a little horseshoe competition if so inclined.

Bird watching

In addition to the thousands of cliff swallows along the river, bald eagles visit regularly and a virtual plethora of bird life enjoying the hundreds of shade trees in our park.

Ball field

Our large grassy field is big enough for soccer, football, softball or all three. A volleyball court is ready for play. Or simply fly a kite for a lower impact activity.

Fitness Room

Don't miss out on your work-out, even if it is hot outside. Our air conditioned exercise room includes a Bow-Flex home gym, recumbant exercycle and TV.

Fun-cycles

These three wheelers are fun for the kids and mom and dad alike.
