The world was forever changed on July 16, 1945 at the Trinity Test Site. It was here at the White Sands Missile Range that the first atomic bomb was detonated and brought a quick end to the Second World War in the Pacific. Today it is a national historical site that is open for visitors just one day per year. Visitors can see ground zero, the ranch house where the bomb was assembled and one of the instrument bunkers.
The Bataan Memorial Death March is a challenging march through the high desert terrain of White Sands Missile Range, conducted in honor of the heroic service members who defended the Philippine Islands during World War II, sacrificing their freedom, health and, in many cases, their very lives.
Please know we are about 40 miles from where the march starts.
