It has been a busy time at Lion Country Safari, with many newborn animals joining the family in the past few months. Make sure to say hello to these new additions as you drive through the safari or check out the adventure park.
Some of the many newborns you will see on your animal safari in West Palm Beach include:
Alissa is a female Southern White Rhinoceros born on August 19, 2023. Alissa is the 40th rhino calf to be born at Lion Country Safari, and guests can view her from their cars when experiencing the drive-through safari.
Mashika is a lion cub born on July 13, 2023. Mashika is the third cub born to Leela. She is still spending time bonding with mom and is not yet visible on the drive-through safari.
Gnocchi is a squirrel monkey born on September 6, 2023. Gnocchi's parents are Ella and Archer. Rigatoni was born a few days later on September 9, 2023, to parents Rio and Archer. Guests can look for Gnocchi and Rigatoni in the squirrel monkey habitat while exploring the walk-through portion of the park.
Lion Country Safari welcomed three new impala calves in the summer of 2023. One calf was born in July, and two were born in August. All calves underwent a newborn exam before reuniting with their mothers. Guests can find the impala calves and their mothers in the safari's second section.
Summer 2023 was an excellent time for the wildebeest population at Lion Country Safari, with eight new calves born between June and July. Wildebeests are part of the Serengeti Plains section of the park, and you may be able to see the calves grazing with their mothers.
Two ostrich chicks were born at the end of June 2023. The ostriches at Lion Country Safari are friendly and often walk up directly to cars to greet guests.
