Pine-scented campsites here are a mere 2.5 miles from Glacier National Park's west entrance. And a drive of just a few minutes brings you to the start of the famous Going-to-the-Sun Road that twists and climbs across the million-acre alpine preserve. Whitefish, Kalispell and Flathead lakes are close enough to explore for part of a day with plenty of time left to relax at this resortlike KOA. A local photographer hosts wildlife slide shows and other programs twice weekly. In addition to the game room, a large log lodge houses a pool table, television and fireplace. Eat breakfast and dinner in the campground restaurant that's open all summer. Get a treat from the ice cream shop. Lounge in the heated swimming pool and two hot tubs or head to the state's largest water park in nearby Columbia Falls.

Slideshow Presentations
Slideshow presentations are held twice a week at our pavilion by a local photographer, Tom Ulrich.
Breakfast
Breakfast served daily, 7am to 11am.
Scoops - Our Ice Cream Shop
Scoops, our ice cream shop, is open from 6:00-10:00 p.m. nightly.
Non-denominational Church Service
Every Sunday morning there is a non-denominational church service at our pavilion.
Dinner with Gene
Served daily with your grill master chef, Gene, beginning June 1st. Dinner served 6pm to 9pm. Bring your friends.
Local Attractions
Whitewater rafting and float trips
There are half day floats, full day floats and dinner floats available. If you are interested in going on a float trip please come to the office and let us make reservations for you. The raft company will come to our campground and pick you up.

Horseback Riding
There are numerous places to go trail riding in and around Glacier National Park. Just outside Glacier Park is Rawhide Trail Rides which is only one mile from the campground. Inside Glacier National Park there trail rides are available at Apgar, Lake McDonald and Many Glacier. You can sign up for one hour, two hour and all day tours.
Boat tours
Glide through spectacular mountain scenery and unique geologic phenomena. You’ll see and feel the grandeur that makes Glacier National Park the Crown of the Continent. There are lake cruises available on Lake McDonald, Two Medicine Lake, St. Mary Lake and at Many Glacier. Boat rentals are available at all of the locations except St. Mary Lake.
Fishing
There are fishing trips available through the local rafting companies in the area. If you have your own boat there is an unlimited number of lakes in the area and also Hungry Horse Reservoir which is only nine miles from our campground. Fishing in Glacier Park is allowed with a free permit that can be obtained at the Visitor's Center in Apgar just inside Glacier National Park.
Biking
There is a paved bike path inside the entrance of Glacier National Park. You can ride you bikes from the town of West Glacier into Glacier National Park and access this paved bike path. Also, in the spring you can ride bikes on the Going-to-the-Sun Highway before it opens to car traffic. It is a great time to view wildlife and beautiful mountain scenery with all of the snow still on the peaks! There is Forest Service trail access near the campground for mountain biking. Mountain bikes can be rented nearby.
Hiking
Glacier Park offers you nearly a thousand miles of trails. There are many short day hikes that will take you into Glacier back country or to mountain chalets. A few good choices would be Avalanche Lake Trail, Trail of the Cedars, Granite Park Chalet or the boardwalk at Logan Pass. There are guided day hikes available also. Don't miss experiencing all that Glacier National Park has to offer. You will be amazed at the wildflowers, vistas and all of the wildlife that you can see on a day hike or even a short walk in Glacier!
Glacier Park Tours
Ride the Red Jammer Buses through Glacier National Park. Completely refurbished buses with a knowledgeable driver will give you an experience of a lifetime. These tour buses will pick you up at our campground daily. Call Glacier Park, Inc. for more information on tours available and reservations. There are also shuttles available in Apgar, just inside the park's entrance.
Hungry Horse Dam
Take a self-guided tour of the dam, available in season. Bring your boat, lake kayaks or canoes and explore the Hungry Horse reservoir. You could spend the day boating, fishing or swimming in this scenic area.
Glacier National Park
Spend the day exploring the Going-to-the-Sun Highway or check out the spectacular lodges such as Lake McDonald Lodge and the East Glacier Lodge. Waterton Lakes National Park (Alberta, Canada)
This National Park is about a two and a half hour drive from our campground. It is just across the border into Canada, so you will need your passport. Don't miss seeing this beautiful park while you are in the area! For information on Waterton Lakes National Park visit the website.
Whitefish Mountain Resort
Gondola rides to the top of the mountain. Mountain biking and hiking are available at the resort. See the Big Mountain website for more information.
Bigfork
Check out this quaint little town, located at the edge of beautiful, Flathead Lake. The town includes great restaurants, art galleries and unique shops. The Bigfork Playhouse has some great plays that run during the summertime. Bring your boat and explore Flathead Lake!
Whitefish
Whitefish is a great place to go shopping for the day. The town has lots of local artists, great restaurants and unique shops to browse through. See a play at the Whitefish Playhouse or attend one of the local events in the area.
Golfing
No vacation is complete without a round of 18 holes. Enjoy multiple courses throughout the valley, each offering challenges to beginners as well as experienced players. Glacier View Golf Course features panoramic mountain views and nature's landscaping. Meadow Lake Resort lies in outer Columbia Falls, 15 miles away--a true golfer retreat. Travel the greater Flathead Valley and find courses in Whitefish, Kalispell, and beyond.
Amazing Fun Center
The Amazing Fun Center is the perfect family hang-out. Explore a massive wood-constructed maze complete with four towers as you race against the clock. Battle it out on Bumper Boats fully equipped with water spray guns. You can compete with each other in the challenging basketball Bank Shot course or putt around on an expansive and highly-detailed mini-golf course. Finish the day with a race around the go-cart track. Don't miss the fun.
Helicopter tours
Soar over some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. You will see glaciers and mountain peaks formed millions of years ago. You will see valleys, lakes and waterfalls almost too breathtaking to describe. These tours are performed in meticulously maintained, four passenger Bell Jet Ranger helicopters with experienced mountain pilots.
Izaak Walton Inn
Any railroad buffs will love this place! A quaint inn set in the mountains. Stop in for lunch or dinner for a delicious homemade meal and watch the trains go by. Great local history of the area!

Big Sky Waterslide and Mini Golf
Don't get scorched by the sun--get wet! Montana’s largest waterslide and mini golf course is located approximately 12 miles from the KOA campground. Experience the exhilarating rush of ten different slides, a large hot tub, arcade, mini golf and bumper cars and water balloon fights. It's the wettest wildest fun in the west.
