Upgrade your RV experience with a stay in one of our KOA Patio Sites! These full hookup, pull-through, RV sites are the largest on the campground and feature a patio and built in fire pit. We also offer a wide range of water/electric and tent camping site areas; ranging from semi-sunny to heavily wooded and secluded.
Don't want to rough it? Reserve one of our cozy log Camping Cabins or Deluxe Cabins. Our Deluxe Cabins are the ultimate in cabin camping; featuring private bedroom(s), bathroom, patio with a grill, and full linens. Additional amenities include a laundry, swimming pool, two very clean bathhouses, a modern playground for the little ones, a covered pavilion equipped with a beautiful stone fireplace, a basketball court, wireless internet, bicycle rentals and more.

The outdoor recreation opportunities never end at Townsend KOA! Rent a bike and explore the beautiful 5-mile long Townsend Bike Trail, featuring historic locations throughout and conveniently located across the road from our campground. With 1,650 feet of river frontage, you can camp with easy access to the Little River, which flows directly out of the National Park. The river is excellent for swimming or tubing and is well known for great trout fishing.

Search for Bigfoot

The lore of Bigfoot certainly runs deep in the Smoky Mountain region - and it's been rumored that he prefers the quieter side of the Smokies, which happens to be exactly where our campground is! Whether you're a true believer or not, there's no denying the presence of Bigfoot in Townsend - you can find his mugshot printed on t-shirts at gift shops, munch on treats from Bigfoot Popcorn, stay at one of a dozen nearby lodges named in his honor, grab lunch at Bigfoot Philly Cheese Steak, and so much more. If you're visiting in the month of May, you may even get to attend the annual Smoky Mountain Bigfoot Festival which includes live music by Bigfoot cover bands, presentations by famous Bigfoot researchers, a 5K race and much more.

So, as you head out into the mountains, make sure to bring some binoculars and charge your camera batteries. There's no knowing who you may run into - you may capture a selfie with the Smoky Mountains' most famous resident.
