Meet Your Hosts

Open March 18 - November 13

Just seeing this lovely campground will soothe any road weariness right out of your soul.

Just seeing this lovely campground will soothe any road weariness right out of your soul. It's tucked between the gurgling Tellico River and an apple orchard with thousands of blossoming trees striping three Tennessee hillsides. Rent tubes on-site and toss yourself right into the flowing waters for a fun-filled float or stroll alongside on the campground's river walk. Feeling adventurous? Sign up with a nearby outfitter for an adrenaline-pumping whitewater raft ride. The Cherokee National Forest begins right outside the gates, home to waterfalls, hiking paths and scenic drives like the Cherohala Skyway, which winds over 6,000-foot mountains and into North Carolina. But you might have a hard time getting the kids in the car: The Tellico Plains KOA gets high marks for its playground.

Meet Your Hosts

Close
After spending 21 years in the Virginia Army National Guard, and over 30 years as a public servant, Donnie retired from the City of Staunton, VA at the end of October 2005 and moved to Tellico Plains, TN with Debbie and their beagle, Annie Mae, in tow. Donnie was hired in 2008 as our lead maintenance man and the "kamping bug" bit him hard. It wasn't very long till they purchased their first camper, and they've upgraded one time since then :) In taking over the manager's position in 2011, Donnie has his hands in many on-going projects. This year he has upgraded some of our sites to 50 amp, refurbished and built our playground equipment, installed new tile to our shower facilities, etc. There's nothing he doesn't get involved in!! If you're just looking for a weekend getaway and want to fish a little, or you want to book an entire week's vacation and lounge by our pool, give Donnie and his friendly staff a call. We'll be glad to help you and we're sure you'll enjoy your stay!

Sweetwater Valley Farms Photo Sweetwater Valley Farms Walking tours educate visitors about the sequence of events that form the food production chain that we describe as "from cows to cheddar". At our the modern day dairy, learn what a human's morning routine has to do with a cow's diet, how a dairy recycles commodities that would otherwise fill up space, and how computer science helps manage herd health!

The tour is completed with a lec'tour' which describes the cheesemaking process, and where visitors may see some of the actual details which bring our delicious cheeses to you! Videos help explain the procedures.
