Meet Your Hosts
"Welcome to the Skowhegan / Kennebec Valley KOA! We hope you embrace the endless opportunities in Maine!"September 4, 2014 was a lucky day in many ways for Jeff and Melanie Peterson. It signified their tenth wedding anniversary and the day they signed the final paperwork to purchase the Skowhegan/Kennebec Valley KOA. "We'd been dreaming of that day for five years," says Jeff. I've been an avid camper most of my life, my son and I our both Eagle Scouts and Melanie and I have camped since we got married. A few years ago, after spending time at the Saco / Old Orchard Beach KOA and getting to know the owners there, we realized that it was exactly what we needed to be doing. Over the next 5 years, the Connecticut couple looked for campgrounds in the Southeastern U.S. When they learned the Skowhegan / Kennebec Valley was on the market, however, they instinctively felt it was the one for them. Several months later, they were handed the keys to their dream."We were a little nervous, coming to a small town," Jeff says. "But everyone has been so welcoming; they're willing to really support us and help us out. They're excited about us being here and so are we."
