Tour Maps of the Smokeys Developed for Bikers
Get off the beaten path and ride some of the most scenic views east of the Mississippi. We have self guided maps with complete instructions. Ride from 50 miles to 400 miles. The famous Dragon Tail is just a short ride from our Newport KOA. These maps have been prepared with great care to be sure that they are correct. Distance and hours are easy to follow. Don't miss one of the most traveled courses for bikers, all free starting at Newport KOA.
Boating
Marina and free boat ramps are located only about 15 minutes away. Easy in and easy out, paved and the best - good fishing. Wonderful views of the mountains from the lake. No way to beat the view or the fishing, so close to the Newport KOA.
Shopping
Enjoy the vast amount of shopping. You'll find many shops and malls to choose from in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

A love for the area drew Bert and Gini Bockoven to the Smoky Mountains and a past experience in the camping business made purchasing the Newport/I-40/Smoky Mountains KOA in January 2007, an easy decision.
After experiencing a multitude of professions, including taking part in the family printing business for 25 years, Bert and Gini ran an independent campground in Montana for 5 years. When that venture came to an end, they returned home to Florida. After a couple of years of relaxation, Bert knew he had to do something.
Upon seeing the campground, they knew that this area would be perfect to get back into the campground business. "We loved to drive up and see the seasons change, and Tennessee has always been my favorite state," says Bert, "The foliage here is beautiful and with the Great Smokys nearby, there really isn't a better place to camp."
Not only is the campground located in a great place, but it also have fabulous workampers that help give campers a camping experience filled with new and exciting memories. "Our employees are terrific and customer service is important to us, since we want our campers to love the area and the campground as much as we do," says Bert.
Gini takes pride in using her professional experience as a florist on the campground with landscaping.
