Meet Your Hosts
For nearly 20 years, Kurt Hostetter worked as a service technician. His wife, Lori, prepared tax returns for a CPA during his busy season and home-schooled their children, Amanda and Tyler. And they all were ready for a change.
"Kurt grew up camping with his family," says Lori. "Owning a campground was always something that he wanted to do."
Never afraid of a little hard work, the Hostetter's found and purchased Scenic View Campground in Ohio's beautiful Hocking Hills. It was outdated and in need of a little TLC and a lot of elbow grease. Over the next six years, Kurt and Lori turned the campground around, creating the perfect place for family-friendly adventures.
Their efforts paid off when, in 2008, the campground became one of just 21 campgrounds nationwide to earn an "A" grade in the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds survey. That fall, the Hostetter's decided to join the KOA system because of the support that the company provides campground owners.
"We are proud of taking a campground that was in pretty rough shape and turning it around to the point of receiving honors," Kurt said. "We want our kampers to tell everyone that they stayed at the best campground ever."
Kurt loves to fish and enjoys bird watching and hiking. Lori is the traveler of the family, and loves taking a break from the Ohio winters to spend time on sunny beaches.
Tyler, after being gone for a camping season, is now back at the campground. He is looking forward to seeing the many friends and familiar faces he has come to know while growing up at the campground. Tyler's wife Jadee will be back for the 2012 camping season too. Jadee is a full-time student at Hocking College. Being newlyweds, Tyler and Jadee enjoy spending time at home with their dog, ,cat and turtle.
After 6 years of active duty in the Air Force, daughter Amanda is serving with the Air Force Reserves and plans to help at the campground after returning from her deployment to Germany in the spring of 2012. Amanda, who works in the Emergency Room at the hospital in Lancaster, likes to do yoga and workout in her spare time.
We hope your family enjoys being at Hocking Hills KOA as much as our family does. Come join us!
