MEET OUR KOA OWNERS AND STAFF

MEET OUR KOA OWNERS AND STAFF

Q: Who's WHO at the KOA Journey in Lincoln City, OR?

A: The most friendly, hard-working and helpful staff ever, that's WHO!

By Molly O'Leary…The number one most mentioned feature about our KOA that Guests share with us in their reviews is about our staff! Check this out… "Super friendly, helpful, go above and beyond, awesome, love their jobs, accommodating, hard workers," just to mention a few. We'd like to introduce you to the people you will see when you check in and stay at our KOA Journey campground in Lincoln City, OR.

MEET THE OWNERS STEVE AND HEIDI Steve and Heidi are part of a long history of family ownership. They purchased our KOA in 2019 from Steve's parents, who had nearly 40 years of hard, dedicated work to run it. Since that transition, the new owners have improved the overall campground layout by adding Deluxe Patio Full-Hookup sites, invested in a Wi-Fi upgrade for a reliable signal, enhanced the landscaping, added a bridge and a small nature trail to climb to the top of the property line, remodeled the General Store and Rec Room flooring and paint, refurbished the Little Campfire Cafe trailer and cooking equipment, expanded the dog run for more than three times the play area for our pet Guests and had many of the rustic cabin roofs replaced. Plus, there is much more to come on their "TO DO" list! By now, you get the idea this family is all in for making it the award-winning KOA that it is: it has won in the last three consecutive years the KOA Founders and Presidents Awards which says a lot! They have quite a line of future bosses, as we like to call them. Meet Steve and Heidi's children: Hailey, Grace, Jacob, Jenna, Tucker and the newest addition, baby Sadie Maye. For the kids, working at the family KOA is a given when the time is right. Our KOA Staff is most appreciative of this very special family. We all thank you!

MEET NANCY (not pictured). Nancy has seen it all! She was hired over 18 years ago. She's worked through two family owners, served thousands of KOA Guests, survived lots of Winter storms and even a few evacuations due to local wildfires, worked with a variety of employees who have come and gone and helped with hundreds of campground activities. Nancy works with her Maintenance partner Danny (see profile below) every Friday, Saturday and Sunday year-round. Together, Nancy and Danny have the most KOA Lincoln City experience, over 22 years combined. We like to call them our "A Team"! Her dog Buttons (the cutest dog ever) comes to work with her every shift. She's also painted many unique murals around the campground as well as the horse swings. Over the years, she's created original crafts for sale in the General Store. On top of all that, she makes "Surprise Bags" for Guests to buy for just $3 to $5. Needless to say, Nancy is a legacy here.

MEET DAVE AND PATTY Dave and Patty have been working at our KOA for over 10 years, arriving every May to work our Summer season. Dave works on the Maintenance Team mowing sites, weed eating where needed, cleaning bathrooms and cabins and much more. His wife Patty works in our General Store cashiering, checking in Guests, making reservations, answering phones and helping with tasks as needed. When Dave and Patty finish their Summer commitment with us, they drive their RV to Las Vegas, NV, to run a pumpkin patch and Christmas tree lot. Believe it or not, they are BOTH octogenarians and set a wonderful example for seniors by living life their way on their terms.

MEET DANNY Danny is on our Maintenance Team. You'll see him parking RVs, grooming sites, blowing the grounds, and chatting with Guests to get to know them. He works with his General Store partner Nancy (see her profile above) every Friday, Saturday and Sunday year-round. Guests often ask him: "Do you ever stop?". He loves to move fast, talk loud when he directs RVs to park, and smile and laugh while he does it, all because he genuinely loves his job and the KOA life. Danny is our go-to guy when it comes to roofing the cabins and outbuildings and hanging up our holiday lights on various tall trees, the steep General Store A-frame and all 14 rustic cabins. He lives in the apartment above the General Store, so he's always got an eye out for the campground to be sure everything is running smoothly and the Guests are happy with their stay.

MEET ERIN Erin is on our Maintenance Team. He works year-round on the Winter day shift and then the busy Summer season closing shift with Molly (see profile below). He also does after-hours Night Security during the Summer season to keep the campground and Guests secure and compliant with the campground rules. Erin has many skills. He is our go-to guy for electrical repairs, including site meters and all types of campground lighting. He is excellent at parking Guests with RVs of all types and sizes and will often give RV Guests tips on maintaining their equipment. He's repaired our on-site golf carts and other vehicles used to run the park. He has lots of family in the Lincoln City area, including his Mom, his sister, his nephew and nieces and his daughter and Grandson.

MEET PAT How can we describe Pat? How about "Jill of all trades and master of all!" That's not an understatement! Pat came to our KOA Lincoln City in April 2020 to live near her daughter and Grandson. It didn't take long for our KOA owners, Steve and Heidi Long, to see her valuable and varied skills, so she was hired. Today, Pat has worked on our Maintenance Team, assisted in the Little Campfire Cafe, run the Tie Dye activity on Summer Saturdays, and worked in the General Store cashiering, answering phones and making reservations, checking in Guests and stocking the shelves with much knowledge about what we carry and what is in the storage room. She also helps with our Friday night S'mores and Ice Cream Socials during the Summer. Need I say more?

MEET BETTY AND LARRY (Kallin on the front left is their Summer helper) Betty and her husband Larry run our very popular Little Campfire Cafe. They are responsible for creating the items on the menu, shopping for the best ingredients, and treating each customer with plenty of friendly chit-chat. Miss Betty is the super amazing cook behind the grill, and Larry greets Guests at the window, takes their orders, and cashiers all while assisting Betty in putting together the plates and to-go boxes. During our Summer season, they are in charge of our Saturday BBQ dinners serving Traeger grilled ribs, brisket, chicken and homemade side dishes. They have over 10 years of experience working in various KOAs and private campgrounds doing just about every job required. In the Winter when the Cafe is closed, they take road trips to visit family and friends in various states in the Western U.S. But as their home base, they love it here at our KOA Lincoln City and we don't know what we would do without them!

MEET MOLLY - We refer to Molly as "The Closer"! She primarily works in our General Store during our busy Summer season from 4 to 10 pm. It is a very busy shift checking in Guests, answering phones, making reservations, and cashiering but she does it all with an upbeat attitude. She loves to greet Guests with her witty sense of humor and listen to their stories about life on the road. Molly has been helpful in assisting the KOA owners with office duties such as setting up a filing system, creating and proofreading documents, and improving the annual inventory process. Her talent for writing has her responding to our Guests who write reviews about their stay with us. She also has contributed original articles about life at our KOA. You can read them by visiting our KOA BLOG on our website. She volunteers every Spring to prepare our nearly 40 planter boxes with wildflower seeds and nursery starts while weeding and fertilizing them throughout the season. Molly shares the apartment above our General Store with her significant other Danny (see profile above).
