American history blazes to vivid life in this most unconventional of Broadway hits. 1776 puts a human face on the pages of history as we see the people behind the icons: proud, frightened, uncertain, irritable, charming, often petty and ultimately noble and determined to do the right thing for a fledgling nation. This Tony award-winning musical includes songs such as Sit Down, John, He Plays the Violin, Mama, Look Sharp, and Is Anybody There? The story of our founding belongs to us all and in an effort to open up the telling of it to everyone, the Palace plans to cast this show with actors of any gender or race. This is not your Grandfathers 1776! Suggested rating: PG - for themes of war, slavery and revolution. Auditions begin July 30, 2016.
