On land, add golf, biking, rock climbing, hiking and off-roading to the action-packed options. By day's end, the hot tub at the Cloquet/Duluth KOA will be calling your name. You'll be happy to heed the call at this lovely campground, set on 15 acres of towering white pines and close to all the fun. From Duluth's harbor, sail out into the world's largest freshwater lake alongside huge freighters. Take a chartered fishing trip to catch salmon and sturgeon-or just marvel at them at the terrific Great Lakes Aquarium.

S.S. William A. Irvin

In her working life, the S.S. William A. Irvin carried rich, red iron ore; she transported dignitaries, the elite and the powerful of the day in her magnificently appointed, wood-paneled staterooms. Now a floating museum, the boat is permanently docked along the Duluth waterfront.

Lake Superior Railroad Museum

Climb up into the cab of one of the world's largest steam locomotives and take the throttle of the Yellowstone Class Mallet. Learn more about the history of railroading in Minnesota as you view the "William A Crooks", the state's first steam engine and explore the inside of the oldest known steam rotary snowplow still in existence today. The Lake Superior Railroad Museum has something for everyone!

Lake Superior Maritime Visitors Center

The Lake Superior Maritime Museum includes film shows, model ships and exhibits featuring the commercial shipping of Lake Superior and the Duluth-Superior Harbor. While there, sit back and enjoy the beautiful gulls, and walk along the canal's piers to its lighthouses.

Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum

The Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum is one of the world's largest private holding of important original documents and manuscripts. The Museum features a rotating exhibit designed to focus on 26 documents at any one time. The documents are educational and entertaining.

Grand Slam Family Fun Center is the largest indoor family fun center in the upper Midwest. There is fun for everyone with mini-golf, laser tag, batting cages, basketball, bumper cars and pool. This is fun for the whole family!

John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon - January

John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon -- This three-day race is the toughest race in the lower 48 states. Other activities include a 150-mile, 8-dog race, cutest puppy contest, banquets and more. This event is held in January.

Duluth Winter Festival

This is a two week event of winter activities like hockey, broomball, skiing, sled dog races, horse-drawn sleigh and cutter parade and more.

Grandma's Marathon, mid-June

This Saturday event is held mid-June and includes an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner, a health and fitness expo, world-class guest speakers and live entertainment throughout the day.

Fourthfest - 4th of July

This is the Midwest's greatest Fourth of July celebration with fireworks, free concerts with national entertainers, arts and crafts activities, children's playground and delicious food and beverage concession stands.

Bayfront Blues Festival, mid-August

An annual event held mid-August. This is one of the largest outdoor music festivals in the Midwest. Weekend events include performances by over 20 national performers, a Moonlight Blues Cruise, Blues Train excursion aboard the North Shore Scenic Railroad and live Blues at nearly 25 local nightclubs.

North shore Inline Marathon, mid-September.

This event is designed for all ages and is held mid-September.

Ship of Ghouls - week before Halloween

This event is held the week before Halloween and provides haunted tours that will chill you to the bone.

Festival of Lights - November to January

Come enjoy the beautiful Christmas lights of downtown Duluth and Canal Park from November to January.

Duluth National Snocross - Thanksgiving weekend

This spectacular event of bright lights, big city, triple jumps is held Thanksgiving weekend. These pro-am races feature indoor/outdoor viewing and a manufacturer's expo.

Duluth Music & Maritime Festival

Visitors will once again be attracted to Tall Ships® along Duluth’s famous waterfront. The 2011 Duluth Music and Maritime Festival features three of America’s historic Tall Ships®, paired with three days of music, food and family fun. Not only will festival goers be able set sail on one of the visiting ships (tickets will be sold in advance only) and experience the thrill of sailing on the open water, but they will also be able to watch the three ships arrive and depart the harbor several times each day, enjoy a wide variety of food and refreshments, musical performances, family activities and educational programs during the day all amongst the beautiful backdrop of Lake Superior. Each evening will be filled with nationally known bands performing live on an outdoor stage behind Grandma's Sports Garden!

Duluth Music and Maritime Festival is also pleased to support the Sixth Annual Bayfront Reggae and World Music festival, the largest festival of its kind in Minnesota, to be held the same weekend at Bayfront Festival Park, July 16 – 17. Hosting these two events simultaneously on Duluth’s waterfront provides a wide range of activities for visitors to enjoy. More information is available at www.bayfrontreggae.com

Jack Sparrow will also be roaming the festival grounds and interacting with the crowd all weekend.

Festival weekend only tickets (with or without concerts) are also available in person at the Electric Fetus in Duluth
