In a quiet country setting near I-40, this KOA has long, wide pull throughs to make big rig parking virtually trouble free. Nature trails from your site lead to beautiful Lake Eufaula.

You'll find no planes or trains at this campground. Stroll from your campsite to the shoreline of Lake Eufaula, Oklahoma's largest reservoir. Rent a canoe, kayak or paddleboat onsite if you desire a more rigorous activity. A barnyard zoo with exotic breed chickens, geese, ducks, turkeys, "Molly" our Watusi cow and her new friend "Mattie" our young Longhorn will please all ages. If you like connecting with nature, this is the KOA for you! Excellent bird watching, nature trails and fishing in our catch and release pond will not disappoint you! Horses are welcome here and can have their own pen for overnight stays. Hold family reunions in one of three heated/air-conditioned meeting rooms complete with kitchens. Savor a delicious meal and fresh-baked cobblers year round at the Chuck Wagon Kafe. Visit the local casino or play a round of golf while you are here. Check out numerous museums in Muskogee to explore Native America history and see nearby Civil War battle sites. Visit Checotah, the Steer Wrestling Capital of the World and home of the 2005 American Idol, Carrie Underwood, or browse antique shops for rich history and great finds in our quaint little towns.

Campground Activities

Lake Eufaula

Oklahoma's largest reservoir has more than 600 miles of shoreline! Great fishing (bass and crappie) boat rentals, heated fishing dock, boating, skiing, wakeboarding and lake swimming are all nearby.

Antiquing

Have a great time scouring the shops in Checotah, Eufaula and Muskogee. All within 1/2 hour drive from campground.

Golfing

Fountain Head Golf Course is a beautiful 18-hole golf course newly upgraded on the back 9 and is just a few miles away.

Kayaking

Rent a kayak, canoe or paddleboat and explore the shorelines of Lake Eufaula - just $15 per day and we deliver to the shoreline!

Nature Trails

Enjoy the great outdoors by strolling through a wooded area to the shore of Lake Eufaula. If the water is low, wildlife tracks are abundant on the beach - see how many you can identify!

Our barnyard zoo (expanding regularly) currently houses exotic breed chickens, along with the regular barnyard kind that fly out of the pen, scratch around in the dirt and lay eggs and of course the rooster who actually crows at a decent hour of the morning! Also, for your viewing pleasure we have geese, ducks, a turkey who thinks he's a duck, and Molly, our Watusi cow. If you look closely, you might catch a glimpse of our shy cats.

Fishing

Our catch and release pond is perfect for teaching kids to fish! Crappie and bluegill are plentiful and we have recently stocked it with the next generation! All the essential fishing gear is available at our store if you leave home without it. Bored with pond fishing? Check out Lake Eufaula! Boats to rent, guides for hire and bank or dock fishing nearby!

Open Memorial Day to Labor Day our sparkling blue pool is a welcome relief on a hot summer day!

Oklahoma's largest reservoir, Lake Eufaula has 600 miles of shoreline and 143,700 acres of surface area. Attractions include fishing and hunting, sightseeing, nature trails, boating, picnicking, tours, etc.

1890 M-K-T Depot and Caboose Photo

1890 M-K-T Depot and Caboose

The KATY DEPOT was built in 1890 and is the M. K. & T.'s oldest surviving wooden station. The depot now holds a collection of the town's heritage including railroad, pioneer businesses, cowboys and Indians, military and the Civil War Battle of Honey Springs memorabilia. Other features are the M.K.T. Caboose #205, a 14 Flag historical display, the Paul Henry Carr Monument, and a scale model of USS CARR (FFG-52) a Guided Missile Frigate which honors the WWII Hero from Checotah. The 1,100 acre site has six walking trails with a total of 55 interpretive signs; the trails are located at (1) the Union bivouac area, (2) the Union line of battle, (3) the Texas' regiments line of battle [which includes 1/8-mile of the original Texas Road], (4) the battle at the bridge [over Elk Creek], (5) the final action, and (6) Honey Springs [the Confederate supply depot].

The Pow Wow is an educational experience for visitors and an opportunity for participants to celebrate through dance, drumming and singing, food, and art, the great heritage of the American Indian. Festival is held June 21 - 24, 2012 in Okmulgee, just 35 miles from our campground.
