This deep, 20-mile-long natural lake straddling the Utah/Idaho border is nicknamed the "Caribbean of the Rockies".

Park your RV or pitch your tent, then head for nearby Bear Lake and prepare for a stunning view. This deep, 20-mile-long natural lake straddling the Utah/Idaho border is nicknamed the "Caribbean of the Rockies" because of its turquoise water and white sand beaches. Fish, sail, Jet Ski and soak up the northeast Utah sun. If you're towing a boat, the marina is a mile north of KOA. Drive along Bear Lake Road, which rings the lake, or explore the many hiking, biking and four-wheeling trails. The campground also rents bicycles. KOA offers a heated pool and a wading pool for kids, as well as Ping-Pong, a pool table and a playground. On summer weekends, hosts serve up the Hungry Bear pancake breakfast. Shop for fresh fixin's at the KOA grocery store.

Come have fun on the jumping pillow!

Minnetonka Cave

Largest commercially developed limestone cave in the state of Idaho, fairyland rooms of gleaming stalactite and stalagmite formations open (one after the other) on the half-mile tour, located 10 miles up scenic St. Charles canyon near beautiful Bear Lake, and guided tours daily June through Labor Day.

Paris Ice Cave

Ice never melts in this small cave located at the bottom of a doline. During the spring, water collects from the surrounding area and passes through the doline making exploration difficult. Late summer and early fall is probably the best time to visit. The entrance is easy to access and a boardwalk stretches across a standing water region near the opening. Ice formations are present in the interior of the cave and some scrambling over rocks is necessary to reach them. Old calcium carbonate deposits are visible on walls, ceilings, and floors. Take a flashlight, sturdy hiking shoes, and a jacket. A hard-hat is always a good idea as well. This cave should be fun for all ages to explore.

National Wildlife Refuge

The best time to visit the National Wildlife Refuge is in the spring and fall.

Lakeside Drive

Enjoy this paved road around the lake.

Oregon Trail Markers

North of the Bear Lake Marina, marks the course taken by early pioneer settlers. A pageant reenacts pioneers on the Oregon Trail on the Friday closest to July 24th.

Museums

Visit the Idaho Historical Museum in Paris, Idaho and the Rails and Trails museum in Montpelier, Idaho.

Bear Lake

Bear Lake is a fascinating blue colored lake. Enjoy trophy cutthroat and lake trout fishing. Fishing good year round. Best fishing is in the early spring and late fall. Watercraft rentals including motorboats, sail boats, jet skis and canoes.
