Buckskin Joe’s Park and Railway

The spirit of the old west comes to life at Buckskin Joe's Frontier Town and Railway. 30 of the buildings that make up the Frontier Town are original structures from ghost towns in the Rocky Mountian Region. Featured are street shows which highlight the authentically restored frontier town, including gunfights, hangings, a medicine show, and magic shows. Guests can also step back in time to experience the fun of gold panning, horse-drawn trolley rides, horseback riding and the Isabell Mine. Twenty movies have been filmed at the park, including John Wayne's "The Cowboys" and "The Sacketts" with Tom Selleck and Sam Elliott.

Great Sand Dunes National Monument

Nestled in southern Colorado, North America's tallest dunes rise over 700 feet high against the rugged Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The wind shaped dunes glow beneath the rugged backdrop of the mountains. This geologic wonderland, containing 30 square miles of dunes, became a national monument in 1932. With the passage of the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve Act of 2000, resources now also include alpine lakes and tundra, six peaks over 13,000 feet, ancient spruce and pine forests, large stands of aspen and cottonwood, grasslands, and wetlands -- all habitat for diverse wildlife and Rocky Mountain plant species.
