Welcoming pets and people, the Tucumcari KOA calls itself "the friendliest stop on I-40." There's plenty of room for the largest and smallest RVs on the road in our extra long and level pull thru sites, plus our tent areas have grass! Our "Desert Oasis" offers fabulous views of Tucumcari Mountain, plateaus, mesas and pastures. In this quiet country atmosphere, the traveler will find the relaxation needed after a long day's travel in our new pool or relief for those tired muscles in our new hot tub! Enjoy dinner or breakfast delivered to your site or join us in our cozy dining area. Come spend a couple of days or longer and enjoy fishing at nearby Ute Lake or Conchas Lake State Parks, and travel along the numerous Scenic Byways to see the unique landscape and a variety of wildlife. From Route 66 Neon and history to dinosaurs and larger-than-life size murals, to a game of golf at the municipal golf course, Tucumcari offers something for everyone!

Meet Your Hosts

Lane, Cindy & Dylan Lewis personally "Welcome" you to Tucumcari, NM. It's a great, quaint little town! Tucumcari has all the convenience you'll need, without the rush rush hurried life and traffic of the big city. It's a great place to spend some quality time with the family.

We recommend that you visit our local museums while in town. The Historical Museum features Tucumcari's own past, as well as history of the old "Route 66". The Mesalands Dinosaur Museum will delight the kids, and its enormous sculptures are impressive to behold for all ages!

Affordability is the key here. Ticket prices at the local "Odeon Theatre" are reasonable and the movies are current showings. We have the perfect place for a GREAT family weekend getaway, or spend a week enjoying all that our area has to offer!

Conchas Dam and State Park

Just 32 miles northwest from Tucumcari are the clear, blue-green waters of Conchas Lake. This state park is an oasis in San Miguel County, but is close enough for Tucumcari's residents and visitors to enjoy. Conchas Lake State Park is open year round for fishing, and is stocked by the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish. Walleye, bluegill, crappie, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, channel catfish and bullhead are all found in abundance.

Ute Lake State Park

This beautiful lake is known for its numerous coves and inlets excellent fishing territory for walleye, small mouth bass, crappie, bluegill and channel catfish. It is also the largest Labyrinth Weir Spillway Facility in the world. The lake is almost 13 miles long, but it's only a skinny one mile across. The state park has three paved ramps on the north side and two on the south side for boating, water skiing, scuba diving, swimming, sailing, fishing and wind surfing. Visitors can rent small boats and pedal-boats and purchase fishing and boating supplies at the marina. The Cedar Valley Nature Trail loops 1.5 miles through fairly rugged terrain with panoramic views of the lake. The park also has an off-road vehicle area near Ute Creek and a small visitor center with exhibits and information on park activities.

Tucumcari Wildlife Preserve

Natural lake on east end of Tucumcari, attracts large number of migratory birds.

Cedar Valley Nature Trail

The Cedar Valley Nature Trail, located within Ute Lake State Park is a 1.5 mile loop that has a moderate grade with a few relatively steep and difficult sections. It climbs through rugged terrain of loose rock, passing yucca, cactus, juniper, and a few pinyon, and provides panoramic views of the lake.

Mesaland Scenic Byway

Mesaland Scenic Byway covers 320 miles in loops on a colorful tableland through Quay County, Guadalupe County and a small part of San Miguel County. Scenic beauty, geological anomalies and rich historic lore — all of this and more await the traveler on the Mesaland Scenic Byway.

Tucumcari Municipal Golf Course

Tucumcari Municipal Golf Course is one of the best courses in New Mexico. This beautiful course is situated among the mesas and offers not only an enjoyable and challenging course but a beautiful view. The course is open from 8 a.m. until dark every day except Monday, weather permitting. It's open on Mondays during holidays. Golfers will find a well-equipped pro shop under the management of experienced professional golfers.

On display at the Mesalands Dinosaur Museum is the world’s largest collection of bronze skeletons, fossils and replicas of prehistoric creatures. This Museum was the first in the world to display a Torvosaurus skeleton, a rare carnivore from the Jurassic Period that is related to Tyrannosaurus Rex.
