Meet Your Hosts

Open April 29 - October 18

We open in late April to welcome early season campers! Fresh Maine air, tall pines, blueberry pancakes and the most friendly and helpful staff will be there to greet you.

Camping is at its best at the Saco/Old Orchard Beach KOA. Fresh Maine air, tall pines, colorful flowers and the most friendly and helpful staff will be there to greet you.

We are situated less than four miles from Old Orchard Beach and close to the beautiful harbor front city of Portland, and the quaint towns of Kennebunkport, Ogunquit, Wells and York. Nearby you will find lighthouses, beaches, whale watching, amusement and water parks, fishing, biking, hiking, kayaking, canoeing and of course, shopping!

Start your day at the on-site Merry Moose restaurant, enjoying our world famous Maine blueberry pancakes and Belgian waffles and in the evenings, enjoy our freshly baked pizza or hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill, plus our delicious blueberry pie (in season) . Relax around the campfire (fire pits on every site) and enjoy using the campground's FREE wi-fi.

The campground offers its own entertainment options, including a heated pool, playground, basketball, volleyball, and seasonal activities such as tie-dying, s'mores, crafts, bingo, scavenger hunts, ice cream socials, outdoor movies and more.

There's a site for everyone…pull through full hookups, quaint pop-up sites, a tenting area and for those who need accommodations, one and two room cabins, deluxe cabins/lodges and on-site rental travel trailers. Groups, family reunions and birthday parties are always welcome.

Larry and Nancy Babyak purchased the Saco/Old Orchard Beach KOA Kampground in 2002, where they are proud to provide top-rated service with a friendly, well-trained staff and welcoming spirit.

Larry has been working in the camping business since his college days. He talked Nancy into joining the camping world in 1993, from a career as a buyer for a large home décor retailer. Together, they managed campgrounds within the KOA company-operated properties division for nine years.

Now, as campground owners, Nancy says, "Our goal is to make sure that our guests feel very welcomed and pampered. We employ a very large staff in season, with over 25 people for our medium-sized park of 120 sites. We do this so we can keep the park immaculately clean, and even more importantly, so we can provide outstanding service to our guests. We escort guests, deliver messages, pizzas, firewood and ice, provide lots of area information and help guests set up if needed."

Nancy, Larry and their son Mike love to travel and have plans to explore the U.S. in their new motor home in the upcoming winters. They've been overseas as well as many beautiful places all over the country.

Lots of deluxe cabins with bathrooms to choose from! Our "Lodges": Our full size kamping lodges/deluxe cabins have a rustic feel with “log” wood siding and walls and wood floors. These beautiful units each have a separate room with a queen bed, a living area with a couch and tv/dvd player, (including cable), and a full kitchen with a dining room table. Each unit has bunk beds, although each is configured differently. They are air conditioned and heated. (Sleeps up to six, maximum of four adults. The 36 foot could sleep 7 or 8 with permission.) . Our studio lodges also have the more rustic feel of a cabin, but are smaller at 18 x 11. The queen bed is in the main room, along with a small table, TV/DVD (no cable), a microwave and a refrigerator. There is a separate room for the bunk beds and a full bathroom with a shower. These units are air conditioned and heated. (Sleeps up to four, maximum of three adults with one in bunk bed.) . Outside of the lodges, there is a fire pit, charcoal grill, picnic table and four to six wooden chairs.

More Accommodations with Baths to Choose From: Our Rental Trailers Our 36 foot travel trailers with a large slide out are the largest units we rent and are in great condition. These have a very spacious feel, with a queen bedroom in the back, a full bath, a kitchen (dishes, pots and pans, etc. are provided), a couch, chair and a separate room for the kids. This second bedroom contains a set of bunks and a dinette table that can be used to play on or folded down for another bed. A television (no cable), DVD player, air conditioner and heat make it very comfortable for you.(Sleeps up to six, maximum of four adults or up to seven with two adults and five children). . We also have four different 31 foot travel trailers with slide outs, all very nice. All have a queen bed and bunk beds, with the number of bunk beds ranging from two to four. All have a kitchen (dishes, pots and pans, etc. are provided), a full bathroom and a couch. A television (no cable), DVD player, air conditioner and heat make it very comfortable for you. (Sleeps 4-6 with a maximum of 3-4 adults). . Outside of these units there is an awning, a fire pit, a charcoal grill and picnic table, as well as four to six wooden, comfortable chairs.

Area Activities Photo Area Activities

Another great aspect of the Saco/Old Orchard Beach KOA is our area's location. We are just off Route One, where you will find all the conveniences you'll need. Good restaurants, things to do and easy access to almost everything are all nearby. Funtown/Splashtown (1/4 mile), Aquaboggan Water Park (1.5 miles), the beaches at Old Orchard Beach (3-4 miles), and Scarborough Marsh (4 Miles) are some examples. Also, lighthouses abound in this area and we can give you directions to several nearby.

You will also find that we are easily accessible to and from the Maine Turnpike and that we are centrally located. We are only a 15-20 minute drive to Portland and less than a half an hour to Kennebunkport. Freeport (and LL Bean!) is just a half-hour drive away. Points south of Kennebunkport (Ogunquit, York and Kittery) are no more than 45 minutes to an hour away. For more area attractions and more detail on those mentioned here, please choose "Area Attractions" and "Day Trips" on this site.

Beaches We are located only three miles from the longest stretch of sandy beach in Maine, Old Orchard Beach. In addition, you can enjoy smaller and quieter beaches, such as Ferry Beach State Park, Camp Ellis, Biddeford Pool, Higgins Beach and Pine Point Beach.

Funtown / Splashtown New England's largest amusement and water park, located only ¼ mile from the campground. Discount tickets are available at our front desk. www.funtownsplashtownusa.com

L.L. Bean Shop the famous L.L. Bean store in Freeport, approx. 30 miles north, plan time to hit some of the other, many outlet stores as well.
