Meet Your Hosts
Both Tim and Elena come from lodging backgrounds. Tim's family owned a motel/restaurant in Colorado Springs, Colorado while Elena's grandparents owned the first motel/campground in Trinidad, Colorado back in the 1930's. Her parents also owned two motels in Trinidad.
Before becoming campground owners, Tim worked in landscape design and was a substitute teacher in the Pueblo School Districts. Elena was an administrative assistant/ticket manager for Colorado State University-Pueblo Athletics and later worked for CSU and the State Department of Local Affairs. She also was a substitute teacher in Pueblo.
Their boys, Todd and Jeff, both attended Colorado State University-Pueblo, majoring in Marketing and Business Administration. Todd has become a full-time partner in the daily operation of the campground in the summer and works at the Pueblo Community College Testing Center during the winter months. Jeff recently married the campground's Activities Director, Crystal Sebastian. He is now hardline/floor manager for Pueblo Sports Authority, and Crystal is teaching in the Art Department at Central High School.
"Our campground is definitely a family operation, with a little help from our friends, where our goal is to provide a fun, pleasant and relaxing experience for everyone who stops here. We want our guests to feel like family - not just another camper."
"Although there isn't much free time for us, we do still try to get away once in awhile." When that happens, you will find the Johnson's out on Todd's fishing boat chasing after the rainbow trout and mackinaw. When they can't get away, the guys take a time out on the golf course.

Open year-round and located just five minutes from the campground, it is one of the area's most challenging courses. Choose from the eighteen-hole Gold Links Course or enjoy the nine-hole West Course. Hollydot is a member of The Golf Card and has been honored many times by Golf Magazine.
Lake Beckwith and Lake Isabel
Lake Beckwith is a 70-acre lake located seven miles from the campground. This facility is stocked for fishing and also offers a wide variety of outdoor activities. A cement walkway surrounds the lake and is used for walking, running, biking, and rollerblading. Canoes, pedal boats, kayaks and other small boats are commonly seen on the lake. In the winter months, the Lake Isabel area provides ice fishing, tobogganing, snowmobiling and cross country skiing.
Lake San Isabel, a 37-acre reservoir with spectacular views, is located 22 miles from the campground and is a very popular area. Excellent recreation facilities make for a very pleasant fishing experience, especially if you enjoy fishing for rainbow and German brown trout. The area is especially good for children wanting to learn how to fish, featuring several open-shore areas with easy casting opportunity. Those interested in small stream fishing may want to try the St. Charles River, which feeds and drains the lake. Good fishing can be had both upstream and down, depending on how adventurous you choose to be.
Bishop’s Castle
Travel back in time as you explore a mystical forest complete with its own medieval castle! Bishop's castle, located just 26 miles from the campground via a scenic highway, is a one-man project featuring a 30' octagon-shaped steeple on top of the 161' main tower of the castle complete with a fire breathing dragon. Every year since 1969, Jim Bishop has single-handedly gathered and set over 1,000 ton of rock to create this stone and iron fortress in the Greenhorn Mountain Valley. In 2005, Jim added a 20' geodesic metal mesh dome on top of the castle, 200' above ground level on the northwest tower, which rotates when visitors run in it.
Frontier Pathways Scenic and Historic Byway
Beyond the interstate and the hustle of Colorado's exciting Front Range cities. . . there is a world of natural beauty and off-beat surprises. This land beckons visitors with a sense of adventure. Come visit the real Colorado; see the Frontier Pathways Scenic and Historic Byway, accessed at Exit 74 off Interstate 25 in Colorado City, right across the highway from the campground.
Full of vast natural and cultural variety, this part of southern Colorado was home to the nation's earliest explorers, trappers and traders. In the 1870's homesteaders, ranchers, and miners established their roots in the foothills of the Rocky Mountain west, surrounded by the lush Wet Mountain Range and the jagged Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
A rich history is infused throughout the Byway. In addition, it offers over 100 miles of scenic beauty, numerous museums and recreational opportunities. Both a state and national Byway, the tour climbs from the high plains, through Hardscrabble Canyon, by breathtaking mountain vistas, to quaint mountain towns.
Greenhorn Valley Summer Playhouse
Only 10 miles from the campground, you can enjoy an evening nestled in the mountains watching presentations like "The Three Jims," "Bell, Book & Candle," "Caverns of the Jewels" and "A Barrel Full of Pennies." The entertainment schedule runs from April through September. On any summer weekend this 85-seat playhouse bursts at the seams with laughter from within!
Pikes Peak Region Attractions
Only 45 minutes from the campground, the Pikes Peak area offers many attractions- Pikes Peak and Cog Railway, Flying W Ranch, US Air Force Academy, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, Santa's Workshop, Ghost Town, President's Wax Museum, and the US Olympic Training Center.
Royal Gorge Bridge
Drive 45 miles and experience Colorado's own world wonder, the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park. At 1,053 feet high, the panoramic vistas of the gorge are as awesome as the Grand Canyon. Spanning a quarter mile across the gorge is the world's highest suspension bridge, an engineering feat as inspiring as the Eiffel Tower. Other man-made marvels include the world's longest single-span Aerial Tram and the world's steepest Incline Railway. There's more than 260 acres of rides, shows, and attractions. Come join the fun. More than 20 million visitors have already been enthralled. It's all waiting for you at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park.
Royal Gorge Route Railroad
This train takes passengers on an unforgettable 24-mile, 2-hour round trip journey into the depths of the Royal Gorge. Passengers experience the famous Hanging Bridge, which clings precariously to the steep granite walls of the Royal Gorge, with the rim towering over 1,000 feet above. This spectacular section of track runs alongside the raging waters of the Arkansas River and is the only way through the Royal Gorge other than negotiating the rapids. Open from mid-May through mid-October.
Great Sand Dunes National Monument
Nestled in southern Colorado, North America's tallest dunes rise over 700 feet high against the rugged Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The wind shaped dunes glow beneath the rugged backdrop of the mountains. This geologic wonderland, containing 30 square miles of dunes, became a national monument in 1932. With the passage of the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve Act of 2000, resources now also include alpine lakes and tundra, six peaks over 13,000 feet, ancient spruce and pine forests, large stands of aspen and cottonwood, grasslands, and wetlands -- all habitat for diverse wildlife and Rocky Mountain plant species.

The farm strives to be a family oriented, recreational, and educational farm making full use of natural resources with an integrated ecosystem that is practical and environment friendly.
Fred Weisbrod Aircraft Museum

Rosemont and El Pueblo Museums
The grandeur of a bygone era awaits you at Rosemont Museum! Build in 1893, this elegant 37-room mansion was home to the John Thatcher Family. With 85 percent of its original furnishings and decorative arts still intact, this is a Victorian experience few want to miss. Rosemont also contains the McClelland Collection of World Curiosities complete with Lotus shoes, Kiwi birds and an Egyptian mummy.
A property of the Colorado Historical Society, the El Pueblo museum is located at the actual historic site of the trading post built in 1842 north of the Arkansas River. Permanent exhibits chronicle human events in the region from prehistoric times through 1900 when railroads and commercial development helped make Pueblo the major industrial center in Colorado. The Native American's story will examine the lifestyles and cultures of the historic American tribes of the area both prior to and following the arrival of the Spanish in 1540.
Union Avenue Historic District
Famous people from all walks of life came to Pueblo's Union Avenue to gamble, buy saddles, bank and be entertained back in the 1870's. Part of the entertainment was provided in the second floor brothels. These brothels are replaced by art galleries and other less colorful enterprises. Stroll, sightsee, have lunch at an outdoor cafe, and shop where history has left its mark. Visit the brick and stone structures, products of Italian Stonemasons, not seen today replace some of the original wooden buildings.
Historic Arkansas River Walk
Come see Colorado's newest outdoor water attraction. The Riverwalk is a special destination in downtown Pueblo, Colorado. This 26-acre urban waterfront restores the Arkansas River channel to its original location. Pedestrian pathways allow you to stroll around the Riverwalk while bike paths located on the Riverwalk lead you to the beautiful Lake Pueblo, Colorado's most visited reservoir! While there, climb aboard the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk riverboat cruise and enjoy a live narrated tour as boat captains share a charming and captivating story of the Arkansas River and Pueblo, Colorado.
