Meet Your Hosts
It was a love of camping that brought Susan and David Barton to own their own KOA Kampground.
"We love camping, especially KOAs," said Susan. "We know that our customers are on vacation, and our goal is to make it the best and happiest vacation that they have ever had."
Before owning their own KOA, Davie was a real estate agent, and Sue a graphic designer. On this campground, it's not just campers that are made welcome, but also their pets.
"Our pets (dogs Sam and Cooper) have traveled all over North America, so we really understand the need for pet-friendly camping," said Susan. "Our dogs travel each year with us."
"We are especially proud of the campground's great staff and scenic location. And don't forget to check out the mosaic tile floors."

The Rideau Canal; a National Historic Site of Canada, a Canadian Heritage River and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, consists of a series of beautiful lakes and rivers connected by canals. Most locks provide washrooms, overnight mooring and picnic facilities, including tables, benches and barbecue grills. You can visit the Rideau in a number of ways. A boat is of course best to get the full ambiance of the region. You can pilot your own boat to the Rideau, trailer it here, or rent a boat on-site. Annual festivals including Cornfest, Farmersville, and the Parade of Lights entertain local people and visitors from afar. Meanwhile, nearby Charleston Lake offers wonderful opportunities for swimming, fishing, boating, or just communing with nature. Athens is a lively town, definitely worth an afternoon of looking at the murals, visiting the local stores, seeing some area sites of interest and meeting the local people of Athens. A sampling of local photographs, and also photographs of past events, can be found in our photo archives.
Sandbanks Provincial Park (2 Hours)
Sandbanks Provincial Park is one of southern Ontario's most delightful recreational spots, a summer magnet for campers and day visitors. Sandbanks boasts three sandy beaches, Outlet Beach, Sandbanks Beach and Dunes Beach, among the largest and most beautiful beaches in Ontario, with golden sand and sparkling water. Windsurfing, sailing, canoeing and boating compete with sunbathing and swimming as favourite park activities.
Smiths Falls (45 minutes)
Situated in a picturesque area along the Rideau Canal, with over 90 acres of parkland, Smiths Falls is a beautiful town with plenty to see and do. There's fishing, hiking, tennis, swimming, boating, birdwatching, ball diamonds, lawn bowling, basketball, darts, hockey, squash, bowling, billards, shopping, good dining and overnight accommodations including hotels, motels and B&Bs. The list of things to do and see goes on and on. Come by boat, there's plenty of docking space.
Merrickville (45 minutes)
Having officially been dubbed as "Canada's most beautiful village" and with more designated heritage buildings than any other Ontario community of like size, Merrickville is a unique and vibrant Victorian village. Idyllically situated along the historic Rideau Canal, less than an hour's drive from both Ottawa, the nation's capital, and the U.S.-Canada border, Merrickville loves to celebrate its history and culture and heartily invites everyone to join in! Come enjoy its heritage, natural attractions, delightful restaurants, shops, its small town hospitality, and its all-around, year-round enchantment.
Other Ideas
The campground offers an excellent tourist information area that can help you find things to do and places to visit. Things like the Canadian Penitentiary Museum, or where you can tour a former Canadian Coast Guard Ice Breaker. Of course our staff will do everything they can to help you plan your trips.
