Our rich history is waiting for you to explore. Settled by the Mormon pioneers in the 1850s, this wild territory was tamed by sweat and blood to become the beautiful, hospitable place it is today.

Box Elder County is known as the land where East met West to bind the United States together: On May 10, 1869, the golden spike that completed the first transcontinental railroad was ceremoniously placed into a laurelwood tie at Promontory in today's Box Elder County. The marriage between the Union Pacific and Central Pacific railways was one of the most significant events in U.S. History. Less than a hundred years later, development of the solid-fuel rocket accelerated America's outerspace exploration. It took hard work, and Box Elder County is proud to be the home of two engineering events that changed the history of this nation.

As we enter the 21st century, Box Elder County continues to advance and grow. Modern businesses and factories bring prosperity, yet progress has not taken away the natural beauty of the land. The pioneers would indeed be proud of the territory they settled, and surprised at the range of recreational and cultural opportunities it now offers.

Antelope Island

Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge

The refuge has 72,000 acres filled with a wide variety of birds, including the rare Tundra Swan, White-faced Ibis, and the Western Grebe.

Belmont Hot Springs

The Brigham City Train Depot has many sites from the romantic era preserved for your viewing.

Corinne Methodist Church

This amazing building is not only the first Protestant church dedicated in Utah, it's the oldest left standing in the state! The serene church belies Corinne's checkered past of saloons, 7 churches, and 80 accommodating ladies! This Church is located northwest of Brigham City on Highway 83.

Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum, Salt Lake City

A treasure house of frontier relics, the museum was designed as a replica of the famous old Salt Lake Theatre.

Family History Library, Salt Lake City

The Family History Library is the largest repository of genealogy materials in the world and open to everyone free of charge.

Fruitway

Highway 89 between Willard and Brigham City offers beautiful county and orchard fresh there are many delicious fruit stands with the freshest fruit imaginable.

George S. Eccles Dinosaur Park

More than 100 full-sized Dinosaur sculptures are brought to life at Dinosaur Park.

Golden Spike National Historic Site

Visit the spot where the Central Pacific and Union Pacific railways met. May-September view the steam locomotives Jupiter and 119, and ranger programs. Call (801) 471-2009 or visit the Golden Spike online for more information.

Golfing

Take part in a game of golf at Eagle Mountain, Sherwood Hills, and Brigham Willows Golf Courses.

Hampton Ford Restaurant and Heritage Theater

Built as a stagecoach stop in 1866, it has been restored to its original charm. Open weekends to the public. The Heritage Theater presents family oriented performances all year long. Located on Highway 30 between Tremonton and Brigham City, (801) 458-3301.

Hogle Zoo

Honeyville Stone Houses Scenic Drive

These charming private residences were built by pioneers and are now a part of the picturesque scenery on the drive between Brigham City and Tremonton along state road 38.

Hill Air Force Base and Museum

Hill Air Force Base is the home of the F-16 fighter. The museum has been open 1981 and now hosts 64 military aircraft and missiles on the grounds. The museum collection also includes a wide variety of ordnance, an assortment of aerospace ground equipment, military vehicles, uniforms, and thousands of other historical artifacts.

Historic Temple Square, Salt Lake City

This ten acre block is the heart of the world-wide Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon) church and Salt Lake City's number one tourist attraction.

Lagoon

Just 30 minutes away, you can ride the thrilling roller coasters and have fun splashing in the Water Park. Lagoon has over 40 rides, so there is something for everyone.

Maddox Ranch House

Mantua (man-a-way)

Mantua is a fabulous place to fish, water ski, hike and take a tour on the Mantua Fish Hatchery to learn how tens of thousands of trout are raised each year to restock wildlife areas.

Marble Park

Check out the horse-drawn equipment and wagons from the 1800's while enjoying a picnic lunch, barbecue and playground at Marble Park.

Mormon Tabernacle Choir

The choir has been singing since 1847 and puts on great performances. Listen to the 325 singers in the LDS tabernacle perform every Sunday morning and practice every Thursday night at 8:00pm.

Roy Historical Museum

Artifacts tell the history of early settlers as old as 2 thousand years. There is a one horse open slay, buggy from the early 1900s, pictures, tools, and many more things that have been donated to available for you today, (801) 776-3626.

Thiokol Rocket Display
