Bite Into a Famous Big Bobcat Chile Burger

As you pass through Santa Fe, New Mexico, take the locals' advice and eat at the Bobcat Bite Restaurant, about 10 miles southeast of downtown Santa Fe.

You'll find a no-frills place that seats only about 17 people. In fact, there may well be more folks in line outside the eatery than there are eating inside.

But it's well worth the wait just to sink your teeth into one of their pork chops or their famous 10-ounce, green-chile cheeseburgers, cooked to perfection on a 50-year-old cast-iron grill. What a find!

Established as a trading post in 1953 along what used to be historic Old Route 66, the restaurant earned its name because years and years ago, bobcats used to visit its back door for treats.

The Bobcat Bite (420 Old Las Vegas Hwy.) is about 4 miles southeast of the junction of Rodeo Road and the Old Las Vegas Highway, which is just north of Exit 284 on I-25. No credit cards accepted. For details, check out www.bobcatbite.com.
