You can use fruit pie filling in place of the pizza mixture. BUT be sure to take plenty of bread --we usually have to take 3 or 4 loaves with us. You'll always get the neighbors to ask what are you doing or how to do it. We have had a wonderful time making different things in them.

Campfire Pizza's

Ingredients

  • 1 jar pizza quick sauce
  • 1 8 oz. package of mozzarella cheese
  • 1 roll Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 small package pepperoni, cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 loaf bread

Directions

Warm pie iron in the fire for couple of minutes. Open only one end of the butter and run all over inside the pie iron. next place a slice of bread on each open side. Mix all other ingredients and add about 2 Tbsp. of meat mixture fold back together then cook in fire until toasted on each side. It takes about 5 minutes to cook. Repeat process over and over !!
