Things to Do

Our little corner of Utah hosts multiple off-road events from March to October, the Ironman triathlon in May, and the Huntsman Games in October. St George/Hurricane KOA Journey is the closest KOA to Zion National Park. Zion National Park

Zion National Park needs to be on your bucket list. It's Utah's first National Park and has been the 3rd most visited in the national park system for a decade, at or near 5 million visitors per year. The views are amazing. Hiking experiences can range from desert dry to waist-deep moving water, and from riverside easy to sky-high mortifying. Sunrise, sunset, and stargazing are phenomenal.
The park is open daily, but the visitor center hours vary by season. Visit their website for maps, lists, and initial planning guides, as well as for current conditions once you arrive. Subscribe to their socials to see park tips and FAQs. If you plan to bring your RV through the park, confirm your timing and vehicle size meet the Zion-Mt. Carmel tunnel restrictions. Reservations may be required to hike Angel's Landing, but Zion NP has no entry or timed reservation system.

Off-Roading

Striated mountains, red cliffs, and black lava rock. Pink, coral, and red sand dunes. Hoo doos. Arches. Water that appears out of nowhere. Dirt-bike, rock crawler, quad, SxS, ATV, UTV, or 4-wheeler. Wherever you go and whatever you call the toy that got you there, you'll discover the southwestern Utah landscape provides extensive and unusual off-roading opportunities.

If you're bringing your vehicle from outside Utah, start at the Utah Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Program page to see if you need a non-resident permit. Then start planning with the Washington County OHV Trail Map, which includes nearly 340 miles of recommended trails, hundreds more miles of mapped trails, and also marks restricted areas.

If you don't have your own vehicle, contact us at 435-879-2212 for rental recommendations.

Red Cliffs Recreation Area

Red Cliffs Recreation Area is within a mile of our campground and known for its hikes among beautiful red rocks, slot canyons, and Springtime waterfalls and slickrock bowls of water. Hiking trails lead to an archaeological site that houses the remains of Ancestral Puebloan structures, dinosaur tracks, the only intact home remaining from the Mormon Harrisburg settlement, and the remnants from the 1950's movie set, "They Came to Cordura." The recreation area is just a portion of the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve- 69,000 acres northeast of St. George, where the Mojave Desert, the Great Basin, and the Colorado Plateau converge. It's home to the protected Mojave Desert tortoise, as well as the Gila monster, sidewinder rattlesnake, chuckwalla, and many native desert  plants.
