The Big Horn Mountains and Bighorn National Forest region are popular for both hunting and fishing enthusiasts. Animals that inhabit the region include Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Pronghorn Antelope, Elk, Moose, Mountain Lion, Coyote, Black Bear, Wild Turkey and numerous other small game animals.

The area also sports hundreds of streams and lakes populated with rainbow, brown, brook and cutthroat trout as well as other species of fish.

Kendrick Golf Course and other golf courses

Kendrick Golf Course is located at the base of the Big Horn Mountains just outside Sheridan, Wyoming. An 18-Hole course (Par 72), open to the public, open every day of the week (April 1 through October 15). Amenities include a driving range, rental riding carts, rental clubs, fully-stocked Pro Shop, reasonable green fees, lessons available from a PGA professional, full-facility dining room, snack bar and cocktails.

  • Powderhorn Golf Course is located 5 miles south of Sheridan off I90 exit 25.
  • Sheridan Municipal Golf course is located west of town 1/2 mile past Sheridan Hospital.

The Bighorn Mountains offer hundreds of miles of trails to accommodate all types of ATVs and riders. Park your trailer at the Bighorn snowmobile trailer parking lots and start your ride up Red Grade road. From there you can access multiple trails and go deep into the Bighorn National Forest for fishing, camping and wildlife viewing.
