The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints gives personal tours in many languages upon request. The tours cover the grounds, gardens, historic buildings and an overview of the basic belief of the church. Presentations about the Book of Mormon or Temples are available upon request. The North Visitors Center features paintings that depict events from the old and new testaments, the Christus Statue and a resource room.

Just 45 minutes from Salt Lake City off of I-80 E are the Park City Factory Stores. Over 40 merchants which include: OshKosh B'Gosh, Jockey, Nike, Nine West, Fossil, and Levi's to name just a few. Kennecott Copper Mine ranks as one of Utah's most popular and fascinating tourist attractions. A Visitor's Center overlooking the mine itself features informative exhibits and videos, allowing you to observe the operations of the world's first open pit copper mine - dating back to 1906. Approx 32.5 miles southwest of Salt Lake City. Directions to this attraction are available in the front office.
Antelope Island is located approx. 45 min. north of Salt Lake on I-15 North to exit 332 then west to the lake. There is a fee to cross the causeway to the island. This is a great way to enjoy the Great Salt Lake with beautiful scenery and wildlife to boot! There is a ranch with a cafe located there that is open to guests 9 am-6 pm.
The Golden Spike National Monument is where the east met the west. Come see where the Golden Spike was hammered into the railway on May 10,1869 as the Union and Pacific Railroads were joined together to span the United States.

Only 25 miles from Salt Lake City, Little Cottonwood Canyon can be reached by taking the 6200 South "Canyons" exit from I-215 and continue east to the canyon on U-210, following signs for Snowbird and Alta. At the mouth of the canyon is the site where Mormon settlers quarried granite slabs to build the Salt Lake Temple. Wilderness Areas are located on both sides of the steep canyon. Summer recreational activities here include rock climbing, camping, picnicking and hiking. The canyon is home for two of Utah's ski and summer resorts. At world class Snowbird, Utah's only aerial tramway carries visitors to the roof of the Rockies for a panoramic view from 11,000-foot Hidden Peak. One mile further is Alta. Notorious for shootings in its 26 saloons during the mining days of the 1860's and 70's, Alta died quickly, but livened up again in 1938 as the seat of Utah's first ski resort. The Albion Basin becomes a hikers and mountain bikers paradise once the snow has all melted. This 7 mile scenic byway from the Salt Lake Valley to Alta and back requires approximately one hour.
The Bonneville Salt Flats is like no other place on earth. A salt crust ranging from a few inches to 5 feet thick forms a perfectly flat, uniform, blindingly white crust as far as the eye can see. The flats are about 12 miles long and five miles wide, covering about 46 square miles in total. Visitors from all around the world have traveled to see this pristine, otherworldly landscape about an hour and half west of Salt Lake City. Aside from the beautiful views, the salt flats are an international hub for car racing. Several speed records have been set at the flats, including the one-time land-speed record of 630 mph, established in 1970 and standing until 1983.
Ride Utah's 100-year-old scenic steam railroad, through the alpine countryside of the Heber Valley, along the shores of Deer Creek Lake, and through breath taking Provo Canyon. Experience History in Motion, while enjoying Utah's scenic splendor aboard our daytime "Express" and "Limited" trains. Heber Valley Railroad is approx. 90 min. east of Salt Lake City. Take I-80 East to exit 146 Heber/Vernal ,turn right onto 100 South then left on 600 West.
