Campground Reviews

We spent nearly a week in site #12. We had numerous questions concerning local attractions. The KOA staff was ready with accurate responses. Everything was in order, especially the restrooms. Been to many KOAs but none of them had restrooms with ceramic decorative walls. The only drawback for the camp itself is a lack of street lights or some form of night time illumination.

The cabin was very comfortable. The slide being closed was a disappointment for most as nothing is mentioned on the website about that feature being closed.

I reserved a spot with a pet enclosure. A staff member acknowledged they were aware that the latch on the enclosure at my site was nonfunctional, and the fencing doesn’t go to the ground on the gate, leaving a large gap. My request to have this remedied have been ignored. Not impressed. Plenty of nice campgrounds, so customer service matters!

This was our 2nd time at the Royal Gorge / Canon City KOA and we will be back! Lots of upgrades to this KOA since our last trip about 6 years ago. Common areas are clean represent the KOA brand well. All staff that we interacted with were friendly and helpful.

The most quiet KOA ever. A half mile from the highway. Clean cabin, restrooms and hot showers.

People were very pleasant, lots were nice but we had a lot of trouble with the internet during our entire stay.

Loved it! Our site was a pull through, very large, had great views, & beautiful landscaping! We really appreciated the effort that went into landscaping between sites. We hardly knew our neighbors were there!

This is the 2nd time within 2 months staying at the Royal Gorge/Canon City KOA AND in the same cabin (401). The time was better because 2 new chairs on the porch, butane attached to the grill, bbq cooking utensils, paper towels, & extra bathroom towels all of which we didn't have the first time. Rain caused a deep crevise on the walkway to the cabin should've been filled. Coffee machine dirty.

This is a really nice campground. Google maps doesn’t do it justice. We had a great site with nice trees for shade. Very well landscaped. Sites can be a little tricky to get into but still doable. Surprisingly level given the slope. Staff was great; Denise was awesome! Wish we had planned to stay longer.

All hosts were very friendly and helpful! Camp ground itself had so many options for everyone! ABSOLUTELY THRILLED to see the new improvements! Good facilities. Fun unique things for the area theme. New outdoor furniture sun shades and even better dog play areas for some specific camp sites. So cool!! Will be back.

Not impressed with communication within the staff -- the group was to be together when I held spaces last year (2021); when everyone started checking in we were not. Thanks to Denise she got everyone together. When we were ready to take shuttle to Railroad, hadn't been told there was a charge. Thanks to Skylar, he discounted the round trip charge. Water pressure in our spot was so low.

We arrived to find the campfire ring with trash in it, let no doubt by the previous occupant. In the following three days no one came to check the site of pick up the mess. It is apparently an older KOA for the sites were far enough apart but decorative rock used to terrace the area made it difficult to move around when slides were extended.

Sites are level, restrooms were clean. But they were terrible short staffed. We had to wait 40 minutes before we could find someone to tell us our site. We had a mound of fire ants close to where we set up Our camper and asked for someone to help but nothing was done.

Pros: great location, nice level spots, park clean, nice office staff Cons: trouble finding office due to other commercial building in front, pool was closed yet still looked open, facilities are very old and look "dirty" but probably just look that way due to the need for updates

Very friendly and helpful staff. They made our stay very enjoyable and helped us when we needed it.

Staff was nice and the camp ground was clean. Some of the spots are very hard to get into. We didn’t have an issue but watched many that did.

Really quiet with a really cute view ..bathrooms nice!!

It would have been wonderful if the slide was open. We chose our weekend because we were told it was the last weekend to enjoy the Slide - then we got there and we’re told they didn’t have the staff to open it. Very disappointed. We also asked for a call from management that we never received

TWENTY SEVEN DAYS AT THE RGKOA. GREAT, HELPFUL AND HARDWORKING STAFF. NICE POOL, BEAUTIFUL SPOT WEST OF CANON CITY. GROUNDS WELL MAINTAINED AND BATHROOMS CLEANED EVERY DAY. DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE.

We knew the weather was not going to be good Saturday we specifically asked a couple of days ahead of time if the Internet was good we were told they had star link which is a lie they have wild blue. We paid for a deluxe RV site, which was very pricey and had no Internet what so ever, no tv reception and radio barely came in, the playground and mini golf course both need updating, please update!

Great location, well maintained sites, dog friendly with dog park, nice walking trail around park.

Overall a nice campground. Love the closeness to gorge. Wish the rock walls at the sights were way shorter. Super hard getting trailers in and out. People also parked their trucks right in the way on the narrow go throughs.

After getting the right size site we had a lovely time there. Wish the dog yard was lit for night time use.

Nice sites, great power and the water is okay. Roads narrow and better signage needed to direct to office. WiFi is iffy at best. If you are AT&T hotspot good. Not sure why the resort fee is added each day as it is a campground. Great for short stay.

The office staff was really friendly. The sites are small. The ground staff told me I had to move my truck from the site. I have a19 ft travel trailer and the site was not big enough for the trailer and truck.

We had a great stay in one of the cabins. Friendly staff and wonderful accomodations. Family friendly camp.

Cabin 401a needs trees cut back so they don't rub on the roof when it's windy .. very annoying and hard to sleep. Every KOA cabin i have been in over the years has had shampoo, conditioner and soap provided for showering. Glad we had our own just in case. Otherwise our stay was just fine. Pretty quiet place. Cleanliness 9 out if 10. We would stay again. Great people.

This is our second trip to the Canyon City KOA. We brought our parents with us hoping that the cabins would be a great place for them to stay and enjoy some good family time. We were SO PLEASED with the cabin they stayed in! It was beautiful, smelled new, clean, and so accommodating. There were plates, coffee mugs, coffee maker wine glasses, a very new and soft comforter and sheets.

I needed to extand my stay for 1 night My request was denied I made a reservation through KOA site Next morning went to the office and ask about what we could do Either stay at my site or move early to another spot, the Kamping has 10% occupency I was denied to stay at my spot I was denied to move early This morning my spot that I left was vacant, really not guest oriented decision

As peaceful as it gets this time of year. Stayed here beginning of April 2024. Pull-through FHU 50 amp. Dirt/gravel pad. Pavers, landscaping, and very fine gravel/sand mix fire pit area. Site #B12 General: 1) Very quiet and not many other campers this time of year. 2) 5-7 min for Royal Gorge Bridge Park and overlook picnic areas. 3) Spacious sites and not too close to neighbors and their hookups (many are a touch short but still work well) Campground WiFi: Worked pretty well. Conducted Zoom meetings and able to work on vpn. BUT that is mainly b/c the park was fairly empty. Cell/hotspot using booster: AT&T (3 of 4 bars—4G). Able to work on VPN, Zoom meetings, and stream. Verizon (4 of 4 bars—4G). Able to work on VPN, Zoom meetings, and stream. Details: Check-in: Site assignments posted on board. Office hours limited this time of year. Sites: Dirt/ gravel pad. Fairly spacious sites. Site 19: Was not our site but we noticed that the patio side connects directly to laundry and restrooms, so folks seem to forget their manners and cut through that site's patio spot. Campground Road: Dirt road but too not bumpy. Grounds: Clean. Bathrooms/Showers: Clean and well-maintained. Laundry: Worked well. Location: Gas, groceries and restaurants are in town 10 min Near highway: The KOA is slightly off of a main road so there is a touch noise during the day. Near train: No
