We had a great time. Our site #63 was secluded. Had fun with the mini golf. It will be even better if the greens are repaired. Had no trouble walking around on the roads. Great ice cream!

Great, quiet location. Very family friendly.

The campground was great! Close to Apple Hill and Placerville! Only complaint would be that it is so close to Hwy 50, so you can hear the traffic, but other than that it was a very nice campground!

We had a great stay. We will be back!

Very nice and clean. Our site needed to have some tree branches trimmed. We stayed three nights and will definitely stay again.

Wonderful staff who was helpful and friendly. Good kids activities. Fun activities in the nearby area (especially Apple Hill).

John and team are customer driven they are always coming up with new things for campers to interact with I have stayed there several times over the years and never had a negative experience. We are older and do not have young children but watching the park fill up on holidays with young family's says it all about John and his team

Great campsite! We were very pleased with the staff and amenities.

I was absolutely SHOCKED at the price of $73.00 for one night’s stay for 2 adults and 2 dogs with only partial hookups. Nowhere else have I seen a price this high. Shingle Springs is not exactly a destination resort. I will not stay here again unless absolutely necessary because of the high price. ( and I have stayed here many times in the past)

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for staying with us. Yes, it is $73/night for a W&E 50 amp site which is mostly on-par with other KOA's in CA. Since your last visit we added a new HD cable tv system, new wifi, movie nights, waterslide, began replacing all our tables with high end wood/metal ones, included mini-golf into price, more staff, etc. So while we do charge higher prices, it is only to improve guest experience. -J

In very poor shape. The so called fishing pond was a muddy swamp. The price was way too high for what you get. Space too small and filthy. The dog park was the only redeeming feature.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for staying with us. The fishing pond is partially spring fed and partially run-off fed. It never goes empty due to the springs at the bottom but it does get lower and lower thru the end of summer as do all lakes & ponds. It would take 500k-1million gallons of water to fill it in summer which isn't a current option. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy our park. We will work hard to improve! - J

Always a great place to stay.

Everything was great except for the paper towel dispensers. Those things don't put out enough paper to do anything with. I need to have them dispense at least 4 times before I can do anything other than be annoyed. This was the case in both the men's room in the main building and the unisex up near the cabins.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for staying with us and the nice rating. We are looking into blowers rather then dispensers. I get frustrated with paper towel dispensers as well. Thanks and hope to see you again! - J

Sites are too close together, no grass or gravel (all dirt), too expensive, with no views. We have been in much nicer KOAS across the country, and not nearly as costly!!!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for staying with us. We do hear your feedback about the grass. Our park wasn't built with sprinkler irrigation at the sites but we will begin adding some this winter based on feedback. I suggest next time you request sites 21 or 44. Backins 15 & 16 are roomy as well. CA KOA's will naturally be much more costly then KOA's in other states. But we will work hard to improve your experience! - J

Very nice good feel as a campground. Had a pleasant stay. My only comment is that some of the amenities are a little dated and some need some maintenance. What we don't understand is why is there a 11am checkout. It's ridiculously early. It's not like at a hotel where they have to clean and prepare a room. It's all open dirt ! Why in the world do you need 5 hours to prepare a dirt site ????

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for the nice comments. We have a brand new wifi system, brand new HD cable system & outlets, your site had one of our brand new tables, & we're doing countless other improvements around the park. So we hear you & working on it :) 5 hrs? Checkout is 11, checkin 2pm. We always do courtesy extensions until 12-12:30. That's only a couple hours to cleanup all sites (garbage, grills) & cabins. -J

Parking was a little snug, but staff was terrific and dog park nice, too!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for camping with us and the nice comment. Next time I recommend the 50 amp pull thrus for a larger motorhome. Site 61, 62, or 35 would be nice and spacious for you in pretty much all directions. Our best sites :) Thanks again! - J

Clean, cute and will definitely stay there again!

We just stayed at Durango and Seven Feathers then Placerville. In our opinion, a 10 rating or highest mark includes paved or concrete pads and something besides dirt and stickers as a “lawn area”. This KOA was convenient for our situation but we can’t rate it high

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for staying with us. I don't think we ever claimed having a "lawn area" but our park wasn't built with sprinkler irrigation at the sites. We hear the feedback so we are going to begin adding some this winter for next year. We aim to give a 10 rating "experience" with friendliness, good wifi, hd cable, movie nights, etc. We will continue upgrading to improve the areas important to YOU :) - J

We really enjoyed our stay! Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Sooo much for the kids to do and our site was a nice size. At first we were worried about traffic noise but we hardly noticed it. We definitely plan on coming back.

The campground is very nice, lots of amenities. However, our Boy Scout Troop felt as if we were second class people. The camp staff seemed overly concerned about our boys making noise- yet the RV campers and other kids there were much louder. Camp staff came to our sight 5 times, after checkbin, to tell us to hurry up and move our cars to the parking lot- we were still unloading those cars.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

2nd class? We enjoyed your group & it appeared everyone was having fun? During our movie in the pool area we ask EVERYONE to keep their voices down. People just don't realize how far their voices travel in groups. Parking: the first 2 times were a courtesy to help you figure out where to setup. 3rd, you approached us appearing confused in dark. 4, 5 were parked against where allowed/instructed. -J

Everything was great. The check-in was easy and the cookies and popcorn were a welcome surprise. The cabin was clean and the beds were comfortable. We showed up in Placerville without a motel reservation and after trying a dozen places, we decided to check KOA "as a last resort". But it turned out to be better than a lot of the places we had called. Lucky break for us! Could use another bathroom.
