Amazing KAO! There are tons of activities for everyone in the family. Very hospitable staff that were willing to help with anything they could. The resort provided so many family friendly activities that we could have stayed for a couple of days and never left the campground.

Our space was full of mud and ruts. It would not take a lot of effort to add gravel and grade the spaces. If we had had children, there was plenty to do. The congestion from traffic was difficult to deal with and noise in the evenings.

Loved the activities for the kids! Very clean place!

Office/check in staff great! Parking guys great! Maintenance, kids who drive around and pick up trash horrible/lazy. They drove by an over filled trashcan 6 times that I counted before they cleaned up the mess.

We’ve stayed here on and off for 20 years. Last year and this year this koa is going downhill. We made reservations for 5 spots as always we paid our deposit for each. When we arrived we were charged a $30.00 a fee for each site because we wanted 5 sites together and the a $13.00 resort fee the Spey fee. We sure didn’t get our money’s worth. The park was not well kept

This KOA tops all I have ever been to before.

Nice grounds and all the staff are very friendly and want to help. No WiFi is the down side of this park.

Laura that worked in the Kid Zone, Olivia that worked in the horse stables and Esther that served me at The Peak were all wonderful. I am so glad I met them and they made our vacation that much sweeter. The only complaint I would have was keeping up on the bathrooms. We had a lot of fun!

Wonderful! Definitely recommend!

The lot wasn't really long enough had to find somewhere else to park and don't get me started on the fire rings so close that I'd be afraid to use and very loud with all the golf carts but if you had kids it was great lots for them to do

Great sites, great amenities, friendly staff, clean / maintained bathrooms. Wi-Fi was terrible the last 2 days…on top of that getting a cell signal at this park was next to impossible!
Jul 11, 2023
There were kids everywhere with zero regard for anything happening around them. It’s amazing nobody gets hit by a car. Also, no hot water in the shower, the shower was dirty, I witnessed an altercation between staff members with swearing and lewd gestures, the firewood was too wet to light, and the wifi didn’t work at all.

Great place! Upper sites need leveling

Internet access that worked would be terrific. Being in the mountains made it difficult to connect to the outside world.
Jul 11, 2023
The grounds were very clean and staff was very friendly. Unfortunately, the sites that you have does not offer cable and less you buy the premium lot which is very limited. Also Wi-Fi extremely spotty does not make it for a enjoyable stay when it’s raining outside.

Great place to stay!

This was our third time here. On this trip we stayed for 5 days and it wasn't long enough. There's so much to see and do that we didn't leave ourselves enough time to enjoy the campground. We did use the on site UTV rentals and horse rides. We will be back.

Our stay was incredible!!! The only thing would be that our site was flooded the majority of the time, but SD got a ton of rain which is unlike that area I guess.

Staff extremely friendly, and professional. Lots of activities. Now for your RV sites. I say it plainly, The site I was assigned was very narrow, under 60 feet long, all of the hook ups, water, sewer, elect was at the very back of the site. I had to buy more sewer hose and an extension cord for my power. I guess it’s a way for you to make more. Neighbor fire ring close to me. Kids running thru

Beautiful, clean location with lots to do and see nearby.

Restaurant was great. Crowded like a pack of sardines. Muddy

Everything was perfect...widest amenities...my stay was enhanced by car rental...saw so much more surrounding sites...People always make the difference so a 'shout out' to August and Ms Wendy...both are great Ambassadors for you...whatever your paying is a bargain for Palmers...

Great park with lots of activities and amenities. Would definitely stay again and bring the grandkids.

We have been staying here for years and we were a little disappointed this year. We always stay in a premium site, and were very happy with the new tables. But a couple nights we had campers next to us that were extremely loud and their kids were disrespectful of other campsites. Nothing was done when we said something. Also, we couldn’t make purchases in the store because of faulty internet.

Your service is horrible, the site we stayed in was so ghetto. The site we were originally assigned was too small and had the picnic table on top of someone’s poop hose. The next site was equally awful. Not to mention noisy and dirty and overcrowded.
Jul 09, 2023
Excellent, as always. Campgrounds is clean, well organized, full of activities with fun schedules. The only complaint w head was the noise coming from the atv rental washing station. We were on site 165. The noise from water pressure was almost constant. Otherwise, we had a great time.
Jul 09, 2023
Too crowded. Too many people, it is like a carnival cruise. Golf carts are everywhere. People walk and park.in the street. If you burp your neighbor not only hears it but smells it..
Jul 09, 2023
Extremely accommodating and friendly staff. Kids love all the activities. Will definitely be back.

The campground needs to in-force their own rules. We were next to tent spots. In comes 80 plus people in a group into four spots. There were so many cars that they blocked the road and the use of the playground. These people rented three golf carts that never stopped going up and down the road. It went on well past midnight. The security personnel were nice but didn’t seem to do anything.
Jul 09, 2023
Loved the facility and amenities. Would recommend a walk path for people to get to bathhouse as they kept walking through our site. This was the only negative we had.
Jul 09, 2023
The camping was great. The pools where good and the kids lived all the activities. The horseback riding was an added bonus.
Jul 09, 2023
Amenities are very good and it’s convenient to Mount Rushmore. If a small disagreement happens between guests you’re on your own. Staff will not help when needed

Best KOA in the country! Great food, amenities and service the horse ride to the Chuck wagon dinner was awesome!!

Absolutely an awesome stay! Highly recommend it and we hope to be there again within the next 2 years

It was nice, definitely coming back.
Jul 09, 2023
Nice. Lots of activities to do. Meals on site good. Bathrooms (#4) leave a lot to be desired. Too small, no place to set personal hygiene kit, communal style with no privacy, etc. time for an upgrade. RV sites not level, no dump station on site. Spotty to no cell service. No cable or local tv reception (I know I’m camping, think storms activity planning, etc.).
Jul 09, 2023
Wi-Fi DOES NOT WORK @ RV While the grounds are beautifully kept, with many activity options, in today's technology-forward living, having Wi-Fi is a must. Other than teens & adults going thru wi-fi withdrawal, our stay was pleasant. Might I suggest updating waste pipe fittings at rv sites. No ability to secure the hose fitting = MESS Wi-Fi is free = Zero ability to connect any device in a rv.

Enjoyed our stay over the 4th of July weekend. Pool was clean and water temp perfect. Slide fun but water cold. Lots of activities for kids put on by staff. Had a great trail ride and chuckwagon dinner. Choose RV sites carefully. Hit or miss Wi-Fi. Sites 110-199 more modern. 500-509 in a quieter spot with working WiFi. Staff were courteous in person, but reaching someone by phone was difficult.

The resort is amazing and I have recommended it to people. There are so many activities for the kids and adults. It was great! My only complaint was when we arrived, the former tenant of our site had left 3 bags of trash to be picked up. It was not picked up by staff and I had to take it to the dumpster myself. Additionally, the previous camper had left dog poop on the site. It was not picked up.

Great for kids, lots to do. Well run, very clean.

Wonderful KOA. Best view and lots of activities for the kids. They thought of everything to offer campers for the best stay.

Location was great. Very close to Mt. Rushmore, and surrounding area. The campground was clean and staff was very helpful. The site was a bit tight for a 45 foot motor home, but it worked. We did not like that the cell service, and internet were very poor. Would not recommend if those things are needed.

My experiences at KOA's have not been great...up until this point. We planned a Mt Rushmore trip, and I am 100% happy we chose the KOA to stay. 3 days and 4 nights. We went over Memorial Day weekend. You will get rain and some inclement weather. We packed most of our food, but we did partake in the pancake breakfast. Kid loved it. We rented a UTV for an afternoon for 2hrs. Worth it. You go on the back trails, and if you are adventurous enough, go on the gnarly trails too. You can drive UTV's on the open road here as long as yours is street legal with plates, I believe. This was the perfect base camp for the following activities in the area: Mt Rushmore, Bear Country, Keystone, Hill City, Rapid City, The 1880 Train (the train was ok, good for kids who haven't been on an old steamer.) The camp grounds themselves are great! Pool, shopping, horseback riding, little shops to visit. We made some really great memories here. Thanks, KOA! PS: Keep in mind, this area is 'Merica friendly...In other words, treat people right and you'll be treated right. Do not play games with the locals, the black hills are vast. Just sayin.

This campground is awesome for everyone. We have been coming here for 5 years now at least one time year usually in August. We have 4 kids from age 5 to 15 and they all love it here. It has 2 pools playgrounds volleyball horseback riding utv rentals bike rentals restaurants ice cream shop small store for groceries and camping stuff wine shop and the kids love to play with all the other kids there. We don't have a camper so we stay in the cabins and they work great for the 6 of us. They have multiple bathrooms and shower house throughout the grounds to use and a laundry mat there. We never had any problems staying here and will keep coming back every year. There is a lot of things to do within an hour drive also. I would definitely recommend this place for people with kids of all ages.
