From an Outsider's Perspective
I didn’t grow up camping but always loved to see the big RVs and campers roll down the highway as we headed to the Pine Aire Resort in Eagle River, WI each summer. We stayed in a cozy little cabin, but rode our bikes through the campground to check out the 5th wheels, RVs, pop up and tents. Forty years later, I still love seeing all of the campers and wow, there are a lot to admire.
I married into a camping family and my first KOA experience was at the Branson KOA Holiday. My young family stayed in a cabin and the rest of the families rolled in with their incredible 5th wheels. From morning to night, it was nieces and nephews on bikes visiting each site, swimming, playing on the playground and chatting with other campers. There is something really special about those who chose to camp….a friendliness, a casual attitude, an appreciation of time spent hanging out around a campfire. It’s slow. Relaxed. Unassuming. And may just be my new favorite way to vacation. See you at a KOA soon, I’m sure!
