traffic and train noise otherwise a nice place

This place is very nice and has just about every accommodation you could ask for! I’m only giving it 4/5 stars because they need to take out some of the concrete dividers they have in between the camp spots. I almost hit the concrete wall a few times with our trailer and my truck because our site was right on the corner. Looked like a few people have hit it/run into it in the past.

The park is beautiful but .........I was assured our site (#220) was nowhere by the road. Let me tell you, it was right next to the busy busy freeway and also the train tracks. All day and all night, semi's and trains. Also no shade at all, we paid for a patio site thinking since it cost more, it would be nice, NOPE. I would not recommend this place at all

Was great until a giant tree cutting company pulled up early in the am to start cutting down a tree being very noisy. :(

This was an unfortunate situation for you to experience, but the safety factor was very concerning to us. We hired a professional tree service to take care of the tree.

wish we could have stayed longer. LOVED our spots we stayed in with our son&daughter in law even if only for 2 nights in that spot. Perfect location for an easy walk to ANYTHING in town . spots by the stream are just beautiful.

Great place close to everything right on the river! We had a deluxe site and it was well laid out. We really enjoyed our stay. Totally weird check in, they ask you everything twice, kids, pets, extra cars etc and make you sign a separate form not KOA issued to ensure you aren’t lying?!? They could definitely update that process.

Easy in/out and good parking. Nice spacing. Showers/restrooms clean and spacious. Staff is friendly. Everything you want in a stay. Super glad we picked Lava Hot Springs East KOA

Very noisy with train passing by frequently. Lots are not level and need more gravel. The only positive was the excellent bathroom/shower facility!

Park was nice, but the train that ran by the park constantly made it difficult to sleep through the night. There was also constant traffic on the road by the park

Marked improvements since we were there a few years ago. We like the improvements. Costs were a bit higher than anticipated. We did enjoy our stay. We/ll be back.

We have stayed at Lava KOA for the past 9 years and it is our "glamping" trip of our season. They have great bathrooms,showers and amenities.

First the constant noise from: trains, semi truck/engine brakes and the camp ground just to the south made the experience very bad. Second, our group was scattered all over the camp site. We booked 4 months in advanced. Last, and the biggest complaint... My brother has a pickup with a rooftop tent. KOA required a full site rental vs just an added vehicle charge.

Overpriced, overcrowded with big rigs looming over you and big trucks filling driveway.. too noisy highway and way too noisy train just above highway. Enjoyed park much more in the fall. Otherwise beautiful well cared for sites near stream.

too much highway noise, sites too close together, handicap shower needs handrails and handheld sprayer - otherwise neat and clean

With a big semi trucks using their exhaust brakes, the park was too noisy. Also, the train blowing there horn. And when it rains the fire pits fill up with water and become a safety hazard. Due to the fact that the fire pits are flush with the ground. We had no problem with the camp host. They were extremely friendly and helpful.

Nice park, clean. The landscape trailer blocking half of the entrance was fun, along with 2 employees who didn't bother acknowledging I was even sitting there. There is endless road noise from every truck going up & down the adjacent (hill) road and trains going by several times a day as well. And let's not forget the unexpected $6/day fee for a small dog (plus taxes too). Look elsewhere.

What a lovely, clean, staff-friendly campground. Our tent site backed up to the Pontneuf River. We fell asleep and woke up to the sound of the water …perfect!

It was one of the best camping trips we've been on. The site was very clean and worked well for us. The Hosts were extremely friendly and kind. We'll stay there again next time we are in Lava.

We made the mistake of arriving On a Friday and Leaving Monday. After seeing mostly Utah license plates, we got the Atlas out and quickly realized Lava Hot Springs is only a two hour drive from Salt Lake. The place was packed with kids. Town was packed with kids. The staff was nice. The sites along the River are nice. The site next to park entrance, the highway, and train tracks was not so nice.

The park was not full and when we left, still many vacancies, yet when we arrived they made us wait for over 2 hrs in very hot weather stating sites weren't ready.... very unnecessary and stressful....

We apologize you had to wait for us to clean, water, and mow sites. If anyone arrives before our advertised check in times of 3pm-9pm we are usually still trying to get our work done. Check out is 11 am so we only have a small window of hours to get the yard work done. Thanks for your understanding

Love Lava, but the concrete in the upper sites are terrible. We are going back to the old site we had. Site 71 needs to be made more level, trailer leans to the right making the steps very high and hard to level.

Beautiful site backing up to the river. Easy path to town. Clean restrooms. We were there for the big storm and felt very well taken care of. Police and fire were there to tend the downed power lines almost immediately. Staff had the place cleaned up pretty well by 10 am. The manager was a rock. Kudos to her.

The spots were good and clean. The staff at night was rude and had little patience. There was an older guy at night that will come and yell at my party to keep it down when we were not been noisy. He did not approached us kindly but just yelled and treated us rude. He made us feel uncomfortable. The night staff needs to learn how to deal with the public. Other than that it was nice.

Clean facilities. Great campground. The campground is right by a busy road and a train that constantly runs. Train woke us up a few times. That's my only complaint. Close to town.

Nice visit. Well maintained and well managed property. Kinda noisy, though, don't you think? Not much you can do about it, though, being so close to the major highway and railroad tracks.

Grounds/location a plus. Great friendly staff. Main complaint: the sewer pump/vent was literally on our site next to the bench and table. You were always smelling something. We didn’t sit out there much. A shame because the view was a nice one on the water. The dryers in the laundromat were lacking. Nothing ever dried completely, even the smallest load. Nice big site. Walking distance to Lava Hot Springs. Campground was great but hot springs weren’t what we were expecting. We didn’t hear the tat in all night that everyone mentioned but we were in an RV not a tent.

Our site #16 was fantastic, clean, right on the river. People were great, the only problem was the click clack of the train, but did not use the horn so that was nice. Swimming for kids I. The river and water park in town also hot springs in town.we will be back

Nice looking campground but too expensive for the location. Spaces are close together . A lot of road and train noise. Limited river views and access. Extra fees for everything from kids to dogs which don’t take extra space. It would be cheaper to get a hotel than camp.

We stayed in L46 and patio is facing the river. Very nice night bbq and fire pit experience. Close by train tracks and freeway is the downside though. The cabin was very clean and cozy. Kids loved the bunk beds.

The cabins are very cozy, close to the Portneuf river across from the cabins. It runs by some great RV parking spots looking at that river. I gave them 2 stars for service because no one is around Monday to Thursday, along with limited working hours Friday- Sunday. If you want something, you have to get in your vehicle and drive about a mile away to their other office in a different area of town. I find that ridiculous or even worse, asinine, not sure what the owner was thinking of that concept. Everything else was great. Some people might have other opinions about driving away to check out, they should have a drop box located around the office area to drop off the keys where we were staying at, instead of us driving to the other location drop it off, I found that to be very inconvenience for us.
