The Cabin was clean, the shower rooms were clean but down and locked up for a whole day. That’s the reason why I pick lava Hot Springs KOA, was because they have shower rooms but when they’re down and you can’t even use the bathrooms it’s really frustrating. The older gentleman at the front desk is very non-Friendly very short spoken and acted like I was interrupting him. But overall it wa

That day was a nightmare for us too. In a perfect world things like this would not happen. We did our very best to get the bathroom facilities up and running as quickly as possible. At no level will we accept less than friendly for our customer service skills. This gentleman will be retrained.

Cabin was filthy. Found old dried MOLDY coffee grounds in coffee maker. Remote controls were visibly dirty. Clorox Wipes turned BROWN from wiping kitchen counters. Paper towel turned BLACK from wiping water drips off floor. BBQ so dirty it took an hour to clean. Fire pit table top had oily gobs, sticky spots, salt, cup rings. Bad housekeeping. Were bathrooms sanitized? Complained to manager.

The campground is well-maintained and clean with plenty of activity options. Other than the trains, it was quiet. However our site had ground bees and no shade. And the bathroom set-up was weird. There's only 5 unisex stalls, so if there's 5 people showering, there's no toilets available. And it seemed like in the afternoon there were ALWAYS 5 people showering. It was definitley a problem.

There are two bath houses located on the campground. One near the playground and one at the registration building. We are sorry to hear you didn't know there was another option for bathroom/shower use.

My complaints are issues you can't control. The overall noise levels, including the traffic and trains, and the noisy people don't make for a relaxing stay. Sites are close with no privacy. We have no kids but families with kids would rate it ten stars.

Would like to see more space in between camp sites. Also personalized motor vehicles with underage kids driving is a accident waiting to happen not to mention the noise

Rude people and they change their policies to fit their needs. They've never questioned us if we have to pop a tent in the 5 years we've been coming. Now all the sudden they charge $25 a night. I'm already paying for the stay and the amenities, and everything else. It's a rip off I will not be staying their again!

As we have been the owners for quite some time the policy has always been that an extra tent on a site is an extra charge. Our KOA.com page also explains this. Our staff will also be confirming how many people, tents, cars and pets at check in, and charging accordingly for every reservation.

Camping next to the Portneuf river is always a treat; beautiful and peaceful - despite the truck traffic and the regular passing of trains. After a while, you just tune those things out and watch the river run. It's walking distance to the hot springs and downtown. This was our second time and we will likely be back. Jim in the office and Kip out on the grounds made our stay that much better.

It would be nice if you had just bathrooms instead of shower and bathroom, I had to wait to use just bathroom.

Great location. You can walk to the tubing put-in and to the hot springs pools. Cabins were just outside the campground proper but there was a nice walking path to get back to the office. Very quite. The deck off the back had a great view and a lovely gas fireplace. The futon did not come w/ extra sheets/blanket/pillow but the office staff was very helpful getting it all figured out.

The bathrooms were good. Our tent site was crowded with obnoxious neighbors which made it difficult to sleep. The freight trains and trucks with loud breaks and engines were equally bad. Confusion between East and West Lava Hot springs Koas cost us $10 in cancellation fees. It’d be nice if the names were dissimilar.

Thank you for commenting and noticing the bathrooms. It is unfortunate that the trains, trucks, and obnoxious neighbors kept you from a good nights rest. Lava Hot Springs East and Lava Hot Springs West are on opposite ends of town.

Someone should tell you when booking this is surrounded by live train tracks and a very busy highway. Nosiest campground I have ever stayed in

Unfortunately it is difficult to escape the noise of the train tracks, Hwy 30, and the Portneuf River. They run parallel of Lava Hot Springs. All three can be seen and heard from anywhere in town.

Very nice environment and nice people. It's the most expensive campground we've ever stayed at. We enjoyed the stay and the people we met. We will come again but hope that it is not so expensive.

This time of year, July 1 -August 15th is our "holiday" season rates. The "shoulder" and "in-season" April 1 -June 15th or September 10th - October 15th rates are much cheaper.

We were originally going to stay somewhere else but for reasons not sharing, we came across KOA. I was sure they’d have nothing for us seeing how it was a Thursday and my wife was pregnant. All they had was their deluxe cabins. I was told they were expensive. To me, it wasn’t horrible. And boy oh boy, the cabin was amazing. So serene with the running water and overall ambiance. Last year 2021we stayed here for $57 a night. This year 2022, same time of year, same rv spot they charged me $137. My wife and I really enjoyed staying here. This price hike is insane, especially for senior citizens. We would enjoy it again if they didn't charge so much. We were really disappointed and cut our stay short due to the price increase.

For future reference, sites #4 and #14 on the river are much cheaper. I could not find a reservation under your name from last year, so I'm wondering if you stayed at a different campground? Our rates definitely did not jump from $57 to $137.

The place is ok but I thought quite time was at 10.00pm. We got there Monday and left Thursday. There was a party close to us every night until 12.20 am every night. The traffic was bad you can here trucks all night not to mention the trains. Over all it was a nice place

This was our 4th stay at this campground. We love coming back every year to visit Lava Hot Springs and stay at KOA. The bathrooms are convenient, the campground is in good shape.

This KOA is our favorite place to stay in LHS. Walking distance to town but a quiet getaway with sites right on the river. Nice patios and well maintained landscaping. The store had any essentials you need and some neat souvenir options. Highly recommend.

Beautiful location along the river. River front camping spots are worth the extra money. They have table and chairs and a great view and sound of the River. Very nice accommodations. We were pleasantly surprised and would stay there again

I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the park the cleaning of the restrooms. All the different amenities there were offered if you wanted to take advantage of the picnic area up by the restrooms for a larger crowd for a meal. The people that worked inside the office which I had been in there different times were all very courteous and polite. I was very happy with my state and rescheduled

I love Lava Hot Springs! My family & I have been going there for 28 straight years! However, it is getting more and more expensive to stay here. The ownership keeps changing and the timeframe to make reservations keeps changing as well. We always stay the same week each year & it seems like we have a harder time getting spots next to eachother due to those changes every year.

Facilities were run down, expensive, and at one point plumbing was completely unavailable. Fire pit was not managed and required us to dig it out of the mud to even use. Firewood was nearly $10 a bundle. Staff was friendly, but overall very run down cabin and restroom facilities

We enjoyed a weekend at lava staying in a double tent site. Bathrooms were clean and facilities were nice. My granddaughter loved having the swings and playground to play on while the other kids played other games at the activities center. We look forward to another weekend there.

We stayed in L46 and patio is facing the river. Very nice night bbq and fire pit experience. Close by train tracks and freeway is the downside though. The cabin was very clean and cozy. Kids loved the bunk beds.

The cabins are very cozy, close to the Portneuf river across from the cabins. It runs by some great RV parking spots looking at that river. I gave them 2 stars for service because no one is around Monday to Thursday, along with limited working hours Friday- Sunday. If you want something, you have to get in your vehicle and drive about a mile away to their other office in a different area of town. I find that ridiculous or even worse, asinine, not sure what the owner was thinking of that concept. Everything else was great. Some people might have other opinions about driving away to check out, they should have a drop box located around the office area to drop off the keys where we were staying at, instead of us driving to the other location drop it off, I found that to be very inconvenience for us.
