One night stay. Very windy as storm front blew through. Very glad the electrical power remained constant all night. Surprised the bathrooms do not have a coded lock on them, especially this close to a major highway. Could there be a vagrant seeking shelter inside? The office/store did not open on Sunday until 10:00 am. No coffee, no snacks, etc., until well after most travelers have left.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

After 2.5 years here, we have had no problems with vagrants. Most of our guest appreciate not having any locks on the bathrooms. We used to be open starting at 8 am on Sunday and hardly had any guests come in for anything, especially during the off-season. Thank goodness for reliable electricity! Cheers from your La Junta KOA Team!

We were put in a space next to a long term guest which woke us early with his diesel truck. The shower house was long way from our site.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

This time of year, during our off-season, we have a fair amount of monthly guests who are working in the area. If we didn't have them here, we would probably close for the winter as there are often days where there are very few travelers. Site #28 is one minute walking from the bathrooms/showers. Did you ask to be closer? Cheers! The La Junta KOA Team

Would not stay again. Found park very tight for large rigs like ours. The width of the sites is too small. We where parked overlooking mobile equipment and a trash pile. Also what was available as far as facilities and appearance not that great. However the restrooms were clean.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We're glad you found our outhouses clean. We don't rest much in them ourselves.... We hope you never get lost again. Cheers! The La Junta KOA Team, working to make our campground better, everyday!

Clean and well kept. Very pet friendly with a dog playground; sand with equipment for them to play on but just surrounded by a picket fence. Pickets wide enough for smaller dogs to squeeze through and short enough for big dogs to jump.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your kind words. We'll check into the dog yard fence picket widths...! Travel safe & have fun! Cheers from Your La Junta KOA Team!

While the park was nice and inviting, the thing that impressed us the most was Brad. We had brake problems and when we asked if he knew anyone who could help us, he got right on the phone until he found someone to help us. He recommended a fellow that did on site service and after having to extend our stay for an additional days we were back on the road. Thanks to Brad.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We are lucky & thankful to have a very nice, talented and affordably-priced local RV service guy here! We're glad he could get you back on the road fairly quickly. Enjoy your travels and be safe! Cheers from Your La Junta KOA Team!

roads very tight to turn big rigs, some big rigs not centered in their space and partially blocking roads, one of our party's truck was hit. full hook-up sewer was too full to dump, got the excuse about it being an old system and flat ground - that obviously did not solve the problem.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

It is a fact that our septic system is old & the campground is flat, not an excuse. While we can't do much about the flatness, we will be working on putting in new sewer lines this spring. We inherited at least 8 years of deferred maintenance & have put all our income into fixing it; other items (falling down fencing, roofs, unsafe playground) were higher priorities. We are making good progress!

Really like the owner. Very friendly, telling us all about the neat improvements at the park. Had a great time, except for the flies, & mosquitos. Bad even down south 45 miles away, had to come indoors. We developed a bad shower leak & had to use Koas showers. Very clean, secure & nice. Enjoyed the last time we were here also, even though it was very cold. Walmart next door, very handy. *****

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your very nice comments. We love our Crooked Arroyo, but not necessarily everything (skeeters, flies) that come with it! Travel safe & have fun out there! Cheers from Your La Junta KOA Team!

The septic system really needs to be fixed. One of our party had to disconnect in the end of the stay and use the dump station even though they paid for full hookups. Also when we made reservations months in advance, we were not put in the larger 50 amp sites, but in the cramped 30 amp sites. We would have preferred to be in the larger sites, but were never given that option. Otherwise fine.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for commenting. The older park section was built in the 1950's & the septic was put right in line with the trees, which are now causing issues. We will be putting in a new line next spring. As for the sites, the reservation was made for 30 amp sites & no one requested a 50 amp site-we would have been happy to relocate the party if only someone had told us, which we ask every guest to do....

Great for an overnight stay. Our pull thru was pretty level and almost long enough to stay hooked up with our 42’ 5th Wheel.....we were sticking out just a little bit! FHU and good OTA tv channels. Nicest office staff we have ever encountered anywhere!!!!!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your friendly comments - we are lucky to have some very fine people on our staff! We hope your travels are most enjoyable & please be safe out there - don't stick out too much! Cheers from Your La Junta KOA Team!

The campground was fine. However, I thought that a $15 “in cabin pet fee” was unreasonable, considering the pets were in my fifth wheel trailer. KOA campgrounds tend to be a bit higher priced anyway, and adding another fee on top will only make me look for other alternatives.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We are very sorry for the mistaken charge - we do not charge RV or Tent campers for pets - and a refund has been issued. Travel safe & cheers! Your La Junta KOA Team

1 night, quiet area but close to shopping. The staff very nice and helpful. The office had rv supplies that was very reasonable and souvenirs.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your kind comments and we are glad you enjoyed your stay! It is pretty convenient to have a 24-hour Walmart Superstore, Subway, Wendys, Village Inn (also open 24 hours) & Little Caesar's Pizza, plus a Dollar Store, all within five minutes walk...! Have a great fall season of travel & be safe! Cheers from your La Junta KOA Team!

No grass. Dirt dust gravel n rock. Pool was disgusting. No bathrooms at pool. Mini golf was run down and cost extra. Rex building closed. Dog park was a joke. Could not sit out because of the dust and flys. Way over priced and overrated. $20 per night is what us should be not $47. KOA never again. Walmart is a better spot. Still killing flys in my MH

We had a great time at this campground. Brad is working hard to make the stay here a great time. This isn’t a destination campground but it is a nice level place to stay.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for those mighty kind words, but I must also thank our great team, including my wife & sons & some wonderful staff, that allow us to make everyday better! We appreciate the encouragement! And, it certainly is level!!! Have a great journey and we hope to see you again - be safe out there! Cheers from your La Junta KOA Team!

Pool area & playground could use some TLC.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

You are very right! We have given our playground a lot of attention this year, adding inflatable water slides & a bounce castle. We are working on getting our grass to grow in, & will be adding another piece of playground equipment next year. As for the pool, yes, it does need some TLC, & we will be working on that next spring. We hope to add a sunshade & expand the deck. Thanks for your feedback!

Level site with pull through great for overnight stay. Also, many sites including mine were shaded with good sized trees. Clean, quality bathroom.

Thanks for your kind words. We have planted over 100 trees in the past two years to provide the next generation of shade trees - watch them grow! Have a wonderful fall season of travel - be safe! Cheers from your La Junta KOA Team!

No cable tv

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We have unlimited, streaming high-speed Wifi AND 17 channels of "regular" TV that you can pull in with a conventional RV antenna. Why have very expensive & very limited cable?! Cheers! The La Junta KOA Team

Bathrooms run down. Staff neither knowledgeable nor helpful or not to be found. Problem with water, which was shut off when we arrived. Constant noise from construction equipment and trench digging. Did not meet KOA standards for cleanliness or attractiveness. We were not guided to our site.

The staff was very friendly & helpful, the bathrooms were so very clean, great showers , the grounds were well kept! I would gladly recommend La Junta, CO KOA!!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you-your kind words mean a lot to us!We are working hard to make our KOA the best it can be & provide a great stay for our guests. In just over 2 years, we have replaced all fencing, planted over 100 trees, remodeled & upgraded all tent sites, playground & store, added lots of night lighting, a deluxe patio site & cabins, painted everything, replaced all shower faucets & more. Cheers to you!

To tight for big rigs

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We're sad to hear that it was too tight for your taste, but we do have 40+ foot coaches towing in all the time and they seem to manage. Yes, in our ideal world, there would be more space to maneuver, but there is simply no way to make it so. Big rig drivers, take it slow & careful, and you'll do just fine! We have sites up to 85' long, so you'll fit. Cheers & be safe! Your La Junta KOA Team

We only stayed for one night and were able to get a deluxe cabin. The cabin was nice, clean, and had everything you would need. The propane grill provided did the job, wish they had a grill brush though. The fire rings were nice, but I would recommend buying your wood elsewhere. I purchased $14 dollars worth and they dropped off 13 tiny pieces, it burnt up rather quickly. All in all I probably would only stay there in a pinch with my camper, but the cabin was nice for short notice.
