No pool.

Seemed like it may have been nice at one time but is being allowed to go to pot. Pool was closed with no notice and he gave us a story about it just happening that spring but from looks of it had been out of order for some time. Was a cess pool breeding mosquitos. Rec room closed and piled with junk. Decrepit slip and slides. Inflatable castle broken.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We have received your comments. The pool was opened on May 9th & lost water immediately. We immediately posted notice on our KOA website & at the campground. That is the story! Rec Room remodeled & reopened by mid-May - and it looks great! Kids love the slip & slide and our working bounce castle. Please consider getting your facts straight. Meanwhile, have a nice day! Cheers! La Junta KOA

It was a nice campground. They had a few less amenities than the top KOA locations giving them only a slightly lower rating.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you & fair enough - we agree! If there are any amenities you think we should add, do please let us know! Cheers & have a great summer of travel! Your La Junta KOA Team

Very nice people. Very clean. Love the little coffee stand.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you! Thank you very much!! We are having a lot of fun with The Daily Planet Coffee & Treats! Good stuff. Cheers & have a wonderful summer! Your La Junta KOA Team

KOA at La Junta, Crooked Arroyo location is much improved since it was built many years ago. Most trailer sites have shade. Tent sites are nice with sand enclosures and shade tents. The site lengths could be longer and roads between the rows of parking spots could be a bit wider. We were right at the limit of the space we were assigned. Bathhouse good.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your kind words - we are working hard everyday to make our campground better! Unfortunately, there is no way to stretch the site lengths & roads - it would be nice, though! Travel safe & have a great summer! Cheers from your La Junta KOA Team!

The patio sites are a joke compared to other KOA patio sites and the regular sites are not always long enough to handle larger rigs.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Other than our Deluxe Patio Site (#44, which is awesome!), we don't really disagree. That is why we are working to upgrade them. We are replacing the patios in three sites right now and adding charcoal grills. As for the regular sites, the amount of space we have it what we have. We do have some 80+ foot-long sites, but only a few.... Cheers! The La Junta KOA Team

This is an old, small KOA. The staff were quite helpful and accommodating when we had problems at the site we were sent to. They have a nice little store as well. It's a great stopping off spot for a night or two. The down side is the pool is not open and doesn't look like it will be for quite some time.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for your comments. Yep, the pool sprung a leak. It does not get a lot of use, and the repair is going to be very expensive, so we are exploring options like a hot tub and/or splash pad. Have any ideas? We will have something in place for 2020! Cheers & travel safe! Your La Junta KOA Team

We stayed 1 nite and it was great! HOT water, great water pressure, staff was friendly and helpful. Pool was under construction but overall a great stop.

Thank you for your kind words and we appreciate your staying with us! Have a great summer of safe travel! Cheers! Your La Junta KOA Team

Friendly. Complimentary bottles of water at check in.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We'd like to offer beer or wine, but the powers that be frown upon such things! So many of our guests come in hot, tired & thirsty, plus they have gained in elevation, lost some in oxygen, and some nice cool water goes a long way towards feeling better! Travel safe & have fun! Cheers from your La Junta KOA Team!

Nice flat Campground. The picnic tables were in bad shape. Bathrooms were nice and clean. Friendly staff.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your kind comments and we are replacing the few picnic tables whose time has come! Have a great summer of safe travel! Cheers from your La Junta KOA Team!

Reception lady nice and pleasant. Site, real nice layout with patio, furniture. Grill - dirty, fire pit had ciggy butts - attention to detail if your offering a nicer, premium site. Everything worked. Unfortunate pool was out. It is close to a walmart and a great RV capable self car wash.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for your feedback and you are spot on with your comment about the importance of giving attention to detail - we are on it! Cheers & travel safe! Your La Junta KOA Team

We were diappointed the pool was not open. But they were in the process of repairing it. The sites were very nice. Very clean and quiet. I liked the coffee/smoothie trailer they had.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We, too, were most disappointed that our pool sprung a leak, and even more so by the huge cost of fixing it and the long amount of time it would take to do so! Thanks for visiting The Daily Planet Coffee & Treats! Yummy stuff there! Cheers & travel safe! Your La Junta KOA Team

This was our second time there and enjoyed our stay. The only issue we had was when we were leaving we could not drive through our space and make the turn so had to back out but other than that our stay was fine.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for coming back & we're happy to hear that you enjoyed it again. We wish we had more elbow room for everyone! Have a great summer & travel safe! Cheers from your La Junta KOA Team

Park was clean and quiet. Our site had an area filled with soft dirt which turned to mud after the rain. Should have been gravel as this is where rear wheels set.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your feedback & the site has been re-graveled. We had just moved the septic input to a better location out of the driveway and had not had a chance to re-gravel before you stayed. It is all good now! Cheers & travel safe! Your La Junta KOA Team

People are great! Place appears run down a bit and quite a few long-term sites are a tad unkempt. In all fairness, we got there before season and a week after big snow, so may just be seasonal. However, that 5th wheel, boat on trailer and assorted landscaping equipment in front of the 50amp/FHU sites really does ruin the view and the ambiance.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your comments. We agree about the point regarding view & ambiance, and are working to find a better home for our landscaping equipment. The boat is for sale and the trailer is in dry storage from a former guest - we are trying to get them to come pick it up! Cheers & travel safe! Your La Junta KOA Team

Very clean!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you, and we try hard to keep it that way. If we could only eliminate those nasty cigarette butts that get dropped on the ground...! Have a great summer & travel safe! Cheers! from your La Junta KOA Team

Due to loud & over priced facility I decided to not stay the second night but was told it has to be canceled 48 prior to when the stay was scheduled. If ever have to stay here only reserve one night at a time. Most of population is long time renters obviously working in area due to the hours they come & go and the “long time use look” of their spaces.

Water splitter valve wouldn’t close tightly enough to not leak on ground. Stopped at office but too early to let someone know. I’m sure they will figure it out. Single hydrant for two sites is not ideal but works.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your comments. As with anything, some water splitter valves are good, and they often mysteriously disappear.... Some are not so good, and they stay around but often leak a little! As was once written, "You can't always get what you want, but sometimes, you get what you need!" Cheers & travel safe! Your La Junta KOA Team

Park is somewhat run down. Seemed to be many permanent residents.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We have received your comments. There is more construction in the area this year than there has been in quite a while, perhaps due to the economy, and our nation's workers have to stay somewhere, right? Cheers! The La Junta KOA Team

The pool wasn't filled on Memorial Day weekend, so mini golf and other things were free. Bathrooms and laundry were clean. Other campers were very friendly and interactive. A nice place! Our spot was shady and centrally located. Great food truck had coffee and goodies.

We stayed at a pull thru for 1 night as we traveled through the area. The year long full timers next to us had electrical cords all around the water faucet and then the faucet barely worked. The table and area at our front door had broken lights and a (?) Water fountain with junk next to it. Just a guess, but seemed like we took someone's full time space for an outrageous price.

Friendly staff and friendly campers. I turned the water on too much and it was leaking; the camper in the site next to me very kindly let me know. I enjoyed hearing the occasional train, too.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We love our friendly team & our great campers - we hear such fun stories of their travel adventures & get to share about our local area, including the importance of trains in our past, present & future! Have a safe summer of fun travel adventures! Cheers from your La Junta KOA Team!

Hosts were very friendly. The Campground was in a good location. There had been a lot of rain, so the campsite was very muddy, the “sink into” type, especially on the side where you enter/exit the RV. The site would benefit from some additional gravel on that side. They were apparently trying to encourage some grass, as there was a soaker hose! on that side. Otherwise, our stay was great.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your kind comments & helpful feedback. We have put more gravel down. We do try hard to maintain some grass, and have a wonderful disabled vet who lives here and helps water - we're guessing it might not have gotten turned off, plus the rain you mentioned. Have a great trip, be safe, and enjoy your summer! Cheers from your La Junta KOA Team!

One of the worse KOA RV parks I have ever stayed in. Very much over priced at $58 a night. They need to spend some of the money they are making and put it into improvements. They need to make the long terms clean all the junk up or move out. Don't have rules if you are not going to enforce them. My first time there and probably my last. Terrible representation for KOA as a whole.

Not bad, but nothing spectacular. Seems to be a lot of folks there full time who party x use rec drugs (pot). Be aware you are in Colorado and marijuana is legal. There were some issue both times we stayed with site length and the reservation provided by the KOA system to the campground operator. The initial site each visit was too short by about 10' of what was needed to fit our rig.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for your comments. While we did have a group of young line workers here that we had some challenges with in terms of keeping it quiet on the weekends, they have moved on. Please ask to be in our South Park if you are looking for the longer sites. Safe travels to you. Cheers from your La Junta KOA Team!

Impressed us so much that we signed up to be KOA members. Brad the owner is very pleasant and we enjoyed chatting with him. It's a really nice campground and the showers and bath were clean. Shade trees for campers which is always a plus. Handy little convenience store with our personal favorite item, ice-cream! Will stay here again if in the La Junta area.

Wow! Thank you & welcome to KOA! Pleas come back anytime! Many cheers from your La Junta KOA Team!

Brad is great. Nice to have 2 free bottles of water. The nice remodeling of the club room is almost done. The bathrooms are clean and good shape with soap and paper towels at the sinks. There are 3 toilets and 2 showers.. It would be nice if the miniature golf was cleared of leaves and twigs; and something else added for the children's playground. .

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for your insightful comments! We now have a person assigned to keep the mini-golf course clean, and we are just about done adding a swingset and will soon be adding a merry-go-round to our playground! Great minds think alike, eh?! Have a terrific summer of safe travel! Cheers from your La Junta KOA Team!

Our club has traveled to the LaJunta KOA for the last several years. Last year the club house was "under construction," but we were assured that it would be completed by our next visit, May 2019. This last weekend we found the club house still "under construction" with no running water. All members were very disappointed and we do not plan to return.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We're glad that most of your members told us they liked the remodeled Rec Room as it is much more bright and up to date. We, too, were disappointed to find we had a water leak (which had nothing to do with the remodeling) in the line to the Rec Room. Cheers! The La Junta KOA Team

The personal was very friendly. Was a disappointed the way the grounds were. At our patio site the grass needed cutting. As did the whole camp. It was clean .

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your comments. We had a frustrating period of about a month this spring where none of our three lawn mowers wanted to work - they all had issues! All is good now - the grass is looking trim! Travel safe! Cheers from the La Junta KOA Team!

For a KOA journey they have quite a few amenities. It has a lot of long term residents and several really dumpy looking rigs there. The absolute worst thing for us was pulling into a flooded site when it hadn't been raining. I appreciate their attempt at having grass between sites but flooding a site that has a reservation for that night is not good. The side where the hook ups were was a swamp.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your feedback and we agree! We have the kindest retired disabled vet that lives here and helps take care of the grass in our South Park where you stayed. He is a wonderful help, but can be forgetful at times and he didn't remember to shut off the water. We apologize for the inconvenience. Cheers & travel safe! The La Junta KOA Team

So glad I was able to get a site for a couple of nights. Very busy Campground. well-maintained. Somebody in the ladies bathroom likes the color purple. Lol. It’s refreshing! Plenty of hot water great showers. The girl that checked me in was very helpful I didn’t get her name

We only stayed for one night and were able to get a deluxe cabin. The cabin was nice, clean, and had everything you would need. The propane grill provided did the job, wish they had a grill brush though. The fire rings were nice, but I would recommend buying your wood elsewhere. I purchased $14 dollars worth and they dropped off 13 tiny pieces, it burnt up rather quickly. All in all I probably would only stay there in a pinch with my camper, but the cabin was nice for short notice.
