While the weather was a bit warm while there, the park was clean and quiet and we enjoyed our stay. Host was very pleasant at check in and was glad of our reservation. It is convenient to shopping -- while still remaining quiet.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your comments & we are very glad you enjoyed staying with us! Have a beautiful fall season of safe travel! Cheers! Your La Junta KOA Team

Had to make a phone call to register at 10 am. Empty office. Was told site had access to southern sky(as requested), wrong. Had to change spaces. Was billed extra on credit card without informing me. 5 digit security code for men's restroom, no code for women. Light timer went out while showering, 5 am, left in total darkness. No grass only weeds, mosquitoes. Smelly DISMAL RV PARK WASTED $$$$$

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Interesting.... You are correct except that: *We advised you that our South Park had the best satellite access but you did not want to spend $3 more for an upgraded site, instead requesting a site then ask to be moved to what we 1st recommended. *Bathroom lights are on motion timer. *We do have grass, just not as much as we would like to have. *Smelly?? Cheers! Your La Junta KOA Team

Service was great. The reason you weren't rated higher was the water. We had an enormous amount of blackish rusty water that came out of the frost free faucet at hook up. All of our water had a rusty tinge and taste. This was not mentioned at checking in to us. Did not mention it upon leaving because what was done was done.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your comments. We are on city water, but due to having older plumbing, if the water sits a while it will run rusty for the first 5-10 seconds. We flush all the open faucets every Friday before it gets busy but need to do a better job of advising our guests of this the rest of the week. Travel safe - Cheers! Your La Junta KOA Team

Mosquitos were miserable! In the evenings, we couldn't go out because the mosquitos were so bad! No shade trees on the back (South) lot. Pretty bleak and hot!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for taking the time to comment. We had a very rainy summer & the mosquitoes have been very bad at times, but not consistently-kinda challenging to manage. Many guests use bug spray and it certainly helps. The trees in South Park are providing nice sitting shade but not yet big enough to provide camper shade, but they'll get there! Travel safe - Cheers! KOA is our last option when traveling. Your price is too high for the amenities, looks of the park, etc.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

As Momma always said, it is good to have options ... come to think of it, she also said that being six feet under was really your last option! Cheers! Your La Junta KOA Team

Nice park in the front, why were we put in the back overlooking piles of debris, not good, couldn't wait to leave

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for taking the time to comment. You may have noticed a few projects going on around the park, like replacing fencing, upgrading the playground & tent sites. Given that we have very little room to work with, the old fence & concrete has to go somewhere until we finish the project, recycle/reclaim any we can & dispose of the rest. We will be glad to have it leave as well! Cheers!

Over priced at $51.13. Lots of mosquitoes. Needs a facelift

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for taking the time to comment. As we hope you could tell, we are working on the facelift - we replaced 600+ feet of fence, planted 60+ trees, created a deluxe patio site & are finishing upgrading our playground & tent sites. More to come! We agree with you regarding the mosquitoes this year. We had way more rain this summer than has been seen in decades-very unusual. The city spray

Nice place, needs some TLC. Dog area could use some solar lights, for night time duties.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your feedback. We are working hard on giving our park the TLC! Great suggestion on the solar light for the dog park - we have ordered one! Have a great autumn & Cheers! Your La Junta KOA Team

The owner was very hospitable: the phone was answered immediately in person, he called back when he said he would, a free cold bottle of water was offered on a very hot day. The La Junta KOA was clean, spots were level, clean and inviting small pool. Excellent place for an overnight or staying a week longer.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your kind words and for staying with us - do, please, come back anytime! Have a wonderful rest of your summer - Cheers! Your La Junta KOA Team

Stayed two nights to see the area. Las Animas has a nice museum to see but the KOA park was nothing but weeds, could not sit outside for the smell. I had to back out along with people on both side of me because of the pile of lumber, equipment and trash container placed on the road in front of my site. Seems the owner does not care because it is the only RV park in the area?

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for taking the time to comment. We have no idea what smell you referred to-please do let us know. The equipment & lumber are being used for all the improvements that we are making. As for the dumpster, we added one this year in our South Park so guests did not have to walk so far to use one - we are sorry that it was in your way. Travel safe - cheers! Your La Junta KOA Team

The camp host was friendly and professional when we checked in. The facility is dated, but it is clean and well maintained. Wifi worked flawlessly. The park is within easy walking distance of a Walmart, a Village Inn restaurant and a few other shops...a definite plus.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your kind comments! We are working to update the park - the first improvement we made last year after buying the campground was bringing in high-speed Wifi! Have a great & safe rest of your travel season - Cheers! Your La Junta KOA Team

Very dusty, our site looked upon construction equipment and old fencing material. Jagged rocks surrounded our space and a home on site had a barking dog.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for taking the time to comment. As you probably saw, we are making many improvements, including replacing almost all of the fencing-thus, the equipment & old material. Thank you for pointing out how quiet our two dogs have been since we bought the park May 2, 2016-yours is the 1st comment we have received about them-we do our best to keep the quiet & it must be working! Be safe-Cheers

We had a great time, nice and relaxing. It would be nice to have a restroom close to the swimming pool. Other than that it was great. Thank you

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your kind words and we agree - adding a bathroom in the pool/playground/tent area is on our list of future improvements. Have a great fall & travel safe - Cheers! Your La Junta KOA Team

Its fine for an overnight stop. Everything was fine, and its obvious they were making improvements. But the sites are very tight and the hook ups need some upgrading.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your feedback. Next time you visit, please check out our South Park - the sites are much wider & longer, with grass medians. We have replaced about 10 yard faucets this past summer & will be upgrading the rest over time, plus improving the septic connections. Have a nice autumn & travel safely - Cheers! Your La Junta KOA Team

Too expensive! Fine for an overnight but not at that rate. Site was not kept up. Managers were nice and friendly but again...just way to expensive.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We're just glad we had one last space left for you to walk in to late on the Saturday night of a holiday weekend! Regarding the site condition, it was "fine" "but not kept up"? It was/is level, graveled, electricity/water/Wifi & septic working, grass mowed/trees trimmed, picnic table & fire ring clean, no dog poop, cigarette butts or trash lying around ... did we miss something? Travel safe!

Friendly and helpful staff; clean restrooms & showers; perfect location next door to a Walmart!!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you very much for your kind comments! Have a wonderful fall season & travel safe. Cheers! Your La Junta KOA Team

NOT bigrig friendly, poor check in facility that leaves guests blocking traffic on a public road, enforced socialization with front doors opening to the neighbors, zero space between rigs, slide outs barely have space to open, kamp k9 too small with no grass, ... And mind you we stayed overnight only

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts, particularly since you only stayed one night. Our South Park is big rig friendly, with longer & wider sites, & if you are not feeling too social, all rigs park the same direction so you are not facing your neighbors who just might be really nice people...! Regarding our K9 yard, we have yet to find a dog that has not truly enjoyed it. Cheers!

Water and wifi were great! But the place needs work. Highest place I paid a high price, not worth it....

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your comments. We agree that the place needs work - surely you noticed our remodel project of our playground & tent sites, all the new trees that have been planted (60 this year), the new deluxe patio site across from you, all the new fencing ... and we're not done yet! Please come back & see us - let us know if we are making any progress! Cheers! Your La Junta KOA Team

Management was very friendly and the park was clean. No cable and unable to receive any TV channels over the air. WiFi excellent. Went to do laundry and had to brush away cob webs.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for your comments. We receive 20 channels of TV with conventional antennae, so we're not sure why you were having difficulty. From your feedback, we have reminded our cleaning team to look up as they clean and keep us clear of cobwebs - thank you! Have a great rest of the summer & travel safe. Cheers! Your La Junta KOA Team

Very clean campground, quiet, large shower room and plenty of places to walk your dog. Great wifi! The people running the office were very personable and fun to chat with. We'd stay again.

Nice kampground! Friendly people. Had some construction/ improvements going on will be nice when done.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your kind comments! We are excited about the playground & tent site improvement project- we will have the best tent sites in the country & a much better playground (We are also looking forward to these projects being done!!)! After that, one more major project for this year, replacing our fence along the Crooked Arroyo- it is going to open up the view to the creek & look much nicer!

enjoyed our stay. I understand not having cable and that's ok, but unable to receive tv channels due to the the thickness of the trees, how do you get around this? It would be nice to have much more gravel around the RV park site especially when you exit the RV - to much mud when it raines. Washers and dryers need attention - some not in operation. I was born and raised in La Junta and a paid f

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Welcome back! Thank you for your comments & recognizing the improvements we have been making. We have great Wifi, you can access 20 TV channels with a conventional antenna, & more trees = more shade! We brought in 20 tons of gravel this week & the laundry gear is all working! We look forward to your next visit - Cheers! Your Hometown La Junta KOA Team

Staff was pleasant and helpful, the long sites were long enough but very hard to pull into due to large rocks and wood barriers marking the sites. The grass/weeds between sites were tall and needed to be mowed.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your feedback. We mow everything weekly, but we have had so much rain, our grass is very happy and growing faster than usual...! Enjoy your summer & travel safe - Cheers! Your La Junta KOA Team

Very small. Long term campers are sad. We did not use any of the facilities so cannot rate those.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for taking a moment to comment. Interesting - A terrible rating for having a small campground & sad long-term campers. We're curious as to how many long-term campers you visited with and why you found them sad - they all are very nice, friendly & happy whenever we see them, as our most of our guests. Cheers! Great stay. Friendly staff. Great campground. WiFi was a little spotty and buffered quite a bit.

Thank you for your kind feedback! We upgraded the WiFi and are doing a little tweaking of it to eliminate the spottiness and reduce the buffering. Have a great rest of the summer & travel safe! Cheers! Your La Junta KOA Team

Restroom was much better than I anticipated.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Interesting... & good. We're not sure what was anticipated but we're glad it was better! While our bathrooms are a bit dated, they are functional, & very clean 99% of the time (we shoot for 100%, but people do use them!). They are on our list for capital improvements. The park was built in the 50's, became a KOA in '69, & there had been much deferred maintenance. We're working to make it better!

The registration clerk was very helpful. We arrived with a tire that had just gone flat on our fifth wheel and she provided the name of a mobile tire service that came to the sight and replaced the tire. Hospitality at its best. :)

Aug 07, 2017
Park is very nice and the staff is great but it is really close to the train tracks and road...noisy

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your kind feedback. As we are a short block from US 50 & the RR tracks on the far side of it, we do get some rumble, but at least they don't blow their horns & the hwy quiets down at night. It does bother some folks & we encourage them to try our South Park which is much further from the hwy. We just planted 30 junipers across the front of the park which will help as well. Cheers!
