There are a lot of renovations and upgrades happening at this campground, which is very exciting. We only stayed one night, so we didn’t use any of the amenities. While we stayed in an RV site, the campground has repurposed a caboose into a place to stay and two more cars are being renovated. For train lovers, these will be neat places to check out!

We thought we would be staying in a cabin. As it turned out, we were put in a converted camping trailer. The last day, we were without water and were not offered any compensation. Also, very noisy next to major highway and railroad. Lastly, the two fold out sofas could not be folded out at the same time because of space.

Laundry facilities wee great, beautiful views and great walking path through all the lava rock, and such a treat to have dinner delivered to your trailer. Loved this stay so much.

We were only there for one night as we passed through but the campground is nice. The playground is a little outdated but other things make up for that. They have three train cars which are awesome to look at. You can sleep in the caboose, they are remodeling another to stay in. My grandson would LOVE that. The owners must have a great sense of humor because the restroom signage is hilarious .

This was our second stay here, this time with our 10 year old grandson. We love this campground. It has a lot for kids to do and is very comfortable and quiet for the not-kids-anymore.

We have stayed at this KOA multiple times now. Staff are extremely friendly and cabins are clean and have a good lay out.

Wonderful rare vintage train cars! Clean campsites and facilities, helpful and friendly staff, great convenience store. The pool is great! Lots of playground facilities and vintage signs decorating the restrooms and showers, plus outdoor art. A fun place to stay!

Clean and well kept. VERY friendly and helpful staff. Bathroom/Shower area were were well maintained and fully functional. (The signage was cute.) There are several vintage railroad cars on display (some still being renovated). I was here 10-15 years ago, and the RV Park was in poor condition overall. The improvements (compared to years ago) are nothing short of EPIC.

Very average for a KOA . I thought a KOA Journey campground would be better. The sites in the north park area were too close together, and the spot I was given was only as long as my camper, absolutely no room to park my truck, which had to be out in the driveway. The sewer hookup was poorly located and I had to use two hoses in order to reach it. Would have liked to have a cable TV hookup

We stayed in the caboose! It was amazing. They did an awesome job on the caboose. It was like staying in a fancy hotel with all the amenities! This is a must stay! The campground was very nice and the employees were awesome. This is far nicer than any other KOA journey that we have stayed in. This is more like a holiday on its way to resort! I highly recommend!

It was great though I was a little disappointed in our site given we had made our reservation 11 months in advance - no fire pit, no shade and a bit crowded/noisy/right up front. It would have been nice to have a quieter/shadier/nicer spot given we’d made plans so far in advance - not sure how that’s done since we checked in later in the day. Staff was great otherwise.

Great location. Owners seem very invested into making this a great place to stay; swimming pool, mini-golf, fenced in dog area, pretty flowers all around. The spaces are close but it really doesn't take away from the stay being calm and peaceful. The office gives out bottled water & dog treats when you check-in; really thoughtful and appreciated after a long drive. Bathrooms were so clean!

Came for the Trarantula Festival which we both enjoyed very much. Will recommend festival to others as well the Koa. Farm stands were great

The sites are very small there was maybe 10 feet from our camper door to our neighbors camper door! So we didn’t sit outside! The pool was nice the owner very knowledgeable!

Only issue we had is that we could not access the sewage dump at our site. It looked like our neighbor had the same issue. Each one of us had a more 'permanent' resident on the other side who were using the dump connection that was meant for us. I could not reach the dump that they were supposed to be using. We did pay for a full-hookup site.

We come to the La Junta KOA because of the Tarantula fest. This stay was our first time staying in a tiny home. We were excited. Unfortunately our Tiny Home wasn't level and there was excrement in our toilet from the previous customer. We advised the staff. We were disappointed about the toilet and were a little concerned about the cleanliness of the rest of the tiny home, hence the 3 out of 5.

Very clean and well kept. Kind folks at the desk. Will be back on way back across country on our way home. Too bad about lights next door but once windows blacked out, no problem. Bunnies all over very cool that they are not intimidated.

I called once and the guy was busy so I hung up and didn't leave a message. He actually called me back. Impressive! He runs a good camp ground. Restrooms were spotless and the showers and lavatory stalls were actually large enough for a full grown person to sit in or shower in. The one in Allentown PA requires a guy like me to wait until everyone is gone and step out to wipe or undress.

One of the best maintained KOAs I’d ever stayed. Owner/manager there from check in to patrolling the park. Interesting classic train cars on view makes for great La Junta photo ops!

The office personnel welcomed us and was helpful during our stay. The campground was so much changed from previous stay. It’s a big improvement.

The campground was well maintained--staff very friendly. My only suggestion would be to provide more heat in the shower area in chilly weather.

Great lodging with great customer service! We were traveling through town late and pulled in hoping they would have something open. Not only was the service great, our cabin was too. 20/20 recommend!! I already shared with all my friends to make sure and stop in La Junta at KOA!!!!

nicest people i deal with them for my propane needs they are professional and compassionate i had limited money to fill my tank they went ahead filled the tank to the amount of money i had which worked out great
