Our local area in southern Oregon is known for wonderful climate and the wild and scenic Rogue River, and nearby fishing in the Applegate and Illinois Rivers. Ample opportunities for wildlife or bird watching. You may enjoy a huge assortment of activities on the Rogue River - white water rafting, jet boat excursions, fishing excursions and more, just a short drive away! We are approximately an hour and a half from Crater Lake National Park, Mt. Shasta, and the magnificent Redwoods of Del Norte county, California, with ocean beaches another 20 minutes past the Redwoods. Surrounded by mountains, oak, pine, and madrone trees, this area has an abundance of natural beauty in every direction.
Boatnik is our local Memorial Day festival. Riverside Park will be full of carnival rides, fun activities, great food, and much more. Jet boat races are the main attraction and can be watched all weekend. Saturday is kicked off with a parade you won't want to miss. And if you stay our late enough, there are fireworks when it gets dark! Monday wraps up the final races of the weekend. This is a wonderful weekend to come visit the area and get a good feel for the local atmosphere.

In winter, the Saturday Grower's Market is held indoors at the Josephine County Fairgrounds on 199, just a couple miles off I-5 at Exit 55, and starting in Mid-March, the Grower's Market moves outdoors to the heart of old downtown Grants Pass at 4th and F Street. Find the best local produce, handcrafted art, handmade soaps, lotions, baked goods and so much more.

Founded in 1980, the Grower's Market has provided fresh locally grown fruits, vegetables, plants, baked goods, specialty foods and gourmet herbs and seasonings for 35 years. As the oldest and largest outdoor farmers' market in Southern Oregon, it has led the region in connecting farmers and their products directly to their customers. Located in the heart of Grants Pass, Oregon, the Josephine County Fairgrounds hosts a number of unique events throughout the year. From the indoor farmer's market in winter to various concerts, metaphysical fairs, a rodeo, and the Josephine County Fair usually held mid-August, and so much more, the JoCo Fairgrounds has something for everyone. To get to the fairgrounds from the Grants Pass KOA, head south on I-5 to Exit 55 for Hwy 199 towards Crescent City. Located about 2 hours SW from the Grants Pass KOA, through the magnificent Redwood forest and out to Hwy 101, along the scenic Pacific Coast, you'll find a Giant Statue of Paul Bunyan and his Big Blue Ox to greet you in the parking lot of Trees of Mystery - a magnificent nature attraction featuring a variety of very unique (and HUGE) redwood trees to see as well as an enclosed, modern, and well-maintained gondola car called the Skytrail that safely carries you up and over the treetops of the giant redwood trees, offering you a completely unique view and experience. Your approximately 9 minute ride offers photography opportunities including a mountaintop ocean vista view at the summit. It's a must-see for nature and photography enthusiasts alike. You can even buy Redwood tree seedlings in their extensive gift shop, which also houses the End of the Trail museum, a free exhibit of one of the best collections of Native American artifacts and history from the first Americans. There's a cafe/snack bar in the gift shop as well as a full service restaurant across the street attached to Motel Trees.

Located about 90 minutes north of the Grants Pass KOA is the Wildlife Safari Drive through Zoo in Winston, OR, just outside of Roseburg.

From the BLM brochure: "Hiking the Table Rocks: The Table Rocks have provided outstanding opportunities for environmental education for many years. Hiking trails allow the public access to the tops of both Table Rocks. The Bureau of Land Management and The Nature Conservancy offer guided hikes each spring during the prime wildflower blooming times. While exploring the Table Rocks, hikers experience incredible biological diversity with four unique plant habitats and up to 75 species of wildflowers, including Southern Oregon Buttercup, Red Bell, Shooting Star, and Camas. Wildlife viewing opportunities include Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Acorn Woodpecker, Turkey Vulture, Violet-green Swallow, Ringtail Cat, Dusky-footed Woodrat, Western Fence Lizard, and Western Rattlesnake.
To get to Lower Table Rock Trailhead, drive north from Medford, Oregon, on Table Rock Road to Wheeler Road. Turn left on Wheeler Road. Trailhead is 0.5 miles ahead on the left."
