Fort Washita Historical Site

Fort Washita was built in 1842 as the southwestern-most military post of the United States. The mission of Fort Washita was to protect the Chickasaw and Choctaw tribes. Fort Washita operated 1842 through 1865 and still stands today as a historic site and museum where visitors can learn how life was lived before and during the Civil War. You can also visit the ruins of 1842 US Fort Washita that plays host to WWII Reenactments and Rendezvous.

Three Valley Museum houses a collection of artifacts regarding the history of Bryan County It opened in 1976 and is named after the book Queen of the Three Valleys by Henry McCreary.
