It's the 13th annual Wine Experience held on the 1st weekend in May every year. 100's of wine, beers and spirits tastings and local chefs offerings are available. Go on the Durango Walk About in downtown Durango with about 14 different locations. Advance discounted tickets available on line. This event runs from 3 pm - 7 pm, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
For a truly unforgettable step back in time, ride our coal-fired, steam-powered narrow gauge train to the historic mining town of Silverton and back. Savor the 3 1/2 hour journey each way and spend 2 hours in Silverton for lunch and shopping and exploring. Call the train station at 877-872-4607 for information and tickets.

In 48 years, the Iron Horse has become one of the classic bicycle events in the West. In recent years, the participants have come from all over the country to ride the famed Iron Horse course. Each year, hundreds of riders will feel the thrill of descending into Silverton and looking to see if the train has arrived. Familiar faces will be there, as many people come back year after year to the "best race we have around." It's a bike race to beat the train to Silverton. The race starts at Durango's 6,500 feet elevation and climbs as high as 11,000 feet, sometimes being shortened due to snow.
Durango's favorite family entertainment since 1969 . Open nightly from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Choose roast beef, chicken or flame broiled rib eye steak served with all the fixings by the Wranglers. There will be songs of the Old West, comedy and lively instrumentals by the Wranglers. There is a short line railroad, playground, hay ride, gold panning, a leather and blacksmith shop, and more. It's 9 miles north of Durango and reservations are required.
A Pro Rodeo at the La Plata County Fairgrounds. 6:30 - 9 p.m. We are very excited to have come together to bring back the western heritage of Durango for the 2019 rodeo season. This year will consist of 9 rodeos with over 4,000 spectators. True West Rodeo is proud to honor our western roots with broncs, bulls and wild west entertainment.The rodeos will be held every Wednesday June 5th - August 7th 2019 at the La Plata County Fairgrounds (2500 Main Ave. Durango Colorado 81301).
With 60 years of experience, the Four Corners Gem & Mineral Club really knows how to put on a show. This year's event will feature kids' activities all weekend, a silent auction, raffle, mineral displays, and about 40 vendors selling everything from small, inexpensive fossils and minerals to jewelry tools and supplies to finished jewelry and artwork. One of the best and largest in southwest Colorado. Don't miss it! This event is held at the La Plata County Fairgrounds.
Take a train ride with Durango's local and guest breweries. Local craft brewers will introduce you to their brews and tell you about the processes. of brewing the many different beers. An authentic 1920's steam engine will pull a narrow gauge train through the spectacular Animas Valley. When you reach Cascade Canyon in the wilderness of the San Juan National Forest you will be served a catered luncheon by one of Durango's top catering companies with more tasting chances, live music and a stroll over the Cascade Canyon footbridge. On Saturday the 5th have a cowboy chuck wagon breakfast from to 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. before the motorless parade in downtown Durango at 10. The Poetry Gathering takes place in many locations all over Durango and La Plata County. There are poets, musicians, and cowboy humor from through out the country at the stage of the Henry Strater Theatre and new this year is a Cowboy Poetry Train. Watch a cowboy play, take a poetry horse trail ride, enjoy Western Art and artists receptions, daytime and evening music and poetry, epic tall tales, a youth show and lots more in this 4 day event. It's a Signature Durango Event. This is the 31st annual gathering.
The Gathering is an exciting, fun-filled event with evening performances and Saturday daytime sessions. Poets and musicians from throughout the country grace our intimate stage at The Strater Theatre, performing classic and contemporary poems and songs that will bring tears to your eyes and keep you in stitches.
