Ideally located between Detroit and Ann Arbor, with quick access to the University of Michigan, the US/Canadian border and the Great Lakes, as well as the metro areas of Toledo, Flint and Monroe, the Detroit / Ann Arbor KOA surrounds a private lake for the enjoyment of guests and provides endless opportunities for fishing, swimming and non-motorized water activities. Our Michigan KOA campground includes on-site amenities, including mini-golf, a playground, sand volleyball, horseshoes, watercraft rentals, numerous scheduled activities, and themed weekends. The campground provides guests access to full facilities, including laundry, showers/restrooms, an outdoor dishwashing station, a propane refill station, a dump station and a fully-stocked convenience store/gift shop for groceries, essential items and souvenirs. Attractions
There are many historical attractions in Detroit, MI. For example, you can learn about the Cold War era at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library. You can also visit the Motown Museum and hear songs from famous musicians, like the Funk Brothers and Marvin Gaye. Learn about America's first car at the Henry Ford Museum. You can also interact with planes that the Ford Motor Company built at the Yankee Air Museum. Tour a car collection, including a NASCAR champion-owned racer, and view famous cars from movies at the Ypsilanti Automotive Heritage Museum. Feel like a scientist for a day at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum, located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Explore interactive science exhibits, experiment and learn. Visit the Michigan Firehouse Museum and Education Center in Ypsilanti for information on the history of firefighting in Michigan. Activities
Animal enthusiasts love seeing thousands of animals from hundreds of species at the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak and Huntington Woods. This zoo was the first in the United States to use barless exhibits extensively. Create a painting of an alligator at an art event, learn about sloths and see wildlife creatures, like chameleons and parrots, at the Creature Conservatory. The nonprofit organization works with animals. You can learn about their rescues, transplants and captive breeding programs with a zoo tour. If you're a fan of dinosaurs, make sure you visit the University of Michigan Museum of Natural History. If you love flowers, visit the Peony Garden at Nichols Arboretum in Ann Arbor, from sunrise to sunset. The garden has been around in Michigan for a century. Each spring, about 10,000 flowers bloom from over 800 peonies.
Adventures
Experience nature with 35 miles of walking trails at the Border-to-Border Trail in Washtenaw County, Michigan. The non-motorized trails go from Livingston County to Wayne County, so you can feel relaxed in the outdoors as you walk along the Huron River. Splash in fountains at the water park, ride a carousel and bike ride at the Detroit International RiverWalk. A RiverWalk Cafe provides snacks and drinks while you enjoy three miles of waterfront views spanning to Canada. Ride on a sightseeing tour with Diamond Jack's River Tours to experience entertainment on their cruises or private charters.
